Hello,
With VLC in full screen, the control bar normally appears at the bottom when you move the mouse.
On my computer, it suddenly disappeared.
Is there a way to get it back?
Thank you

Hi everyone, I was looking for a solution because I had the same problem and I came across this topic by chance. Without further ado, here’s the solution (which I found on my own, by the way, because all the solutions I read online until now to make the command bar reappear didn’t work). You need to go to Tools > Preferences > there's a button at the bottom called Reset Preferences > click on it, then close and reopen VLC and it’s good to go.
I hope I helped you and have a great day everyone!

Hi
I’ve encountered the problem several times too. The controller disappearing completely in full screen without any explanation (... another paranormal phenomenon???...).
Until now, every time it happened, I would completely reinstall VLC, and everything would go back to normal. I say until now, because I just discovered that by pressing "esc" in normal window mode (if you do it in full screen, it just exits), I could get my controller to reappear visibly in full screen. I’ve tested the trick several times and realized that I could make it disappear or reappear at will.
In short, I don’t know if this will work for everyone, as it seems we're many in this case, but if it can help...
Let me (us) know if it works for you too!

I had the same problem. It actually depends on the videos
go to tools
preferences
show a controller in full screen mode
close and reopen VLC

hello
VLC media player - Overview : http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
I'm also interested in the solution to this problem :)
In expert mode in the options WHICH ARE STILL VERY FEW SIMPLE AND POORLY DOCUMENTED BY INFO BUBBLE, there is a command to display the bar in full screen which normally by default is displayed, but at least on XP I've never seen it. On Vista, I changed something and poof, no more bar. I was thinking about the screen size or resolution as the cause of the problem, which really has nothing to do with it, but since we are in paranormal phenomena (according to "Patosh" post #2) nothing strange.
NOTE: On Vista, programs, when switching from one account to another (even with ADMIN accounts supposed to allow the use of all programs), programs are not properly installed on all accounts, at least the shortcuts are not present. The installation of programs on Vista is poorly done even currently with the updates made, SP1 in particular.
thank you

For my part, I am on a limited account on xP and none of the manipulations work (they should work on the administrator account, I need to check).
By right-clicking, selecting 'Always on top', the interface overlaps the image (beige background with commands) and masks its display. Then, you have to press 'f' (original shortcut) to make the image reappear inside the frame determined by the commands.
The only drawback: if you want to minimize the screen, you have to do it from the taskbar by clicking on the VLC tab, otherwise, by default, it will mask the other applications you want to display.
That said, my version of VLC is a bit outdated and maybe a reinstall paired with an update would be welcome...
Happy New Year to everyone!

I forgot. Once the command is activated (always on top), click again to deactivate it, allowing you to switch between full screen without controls and full screen with controls by simply clicking on the screen.
On Mac, when you install VLC, there is a "goodie" folder that contains an Apple Script called "Delete VLC Preferences." It will effectively fix this problem, in any case better than going into preferences and clicking on reset all.
I think this problem happened to me when trying to install Free's Screen Player, which installs a later version (0.86).
I hope this helps you. :)

It's very simple to solve this problem.
I had the same issue, due to a mistake on my part. Indeed, I had accidentally switched to Fullscreen Interface.
I was inspired by Papawa's answer to find the solution.
Solution
- Right-click in the middle of the screen (VLC window)
- In the context menu that appears, hover the mouse pointer over View
- In the submenu that appears, if the Fullscreen Interface option is checked, uncheck it by clicking on it.
Solution 2
To activate/deactivate Fullscreen Interface:
Press:
To activate/deactivate Minimal Interface:
Press:
Solution 3 (only if VLC is configured in "Fullscreen Interface")
Use the View menu (which is after the Tools menu) from the menu bar.
Note: Both options
-Fullscreen Interface
- Minimal Interface
must be disabled.

IT WORKS!! thank you very much!!
I couldn't find the shortcut, so I opened the command prompt and typed
cd\
cd c:\program file\......\vlc (the path to vlc.exe)
vlc.exe --reset-config --reset-plugins-cache vlc://quit (Note without the " " )
And it worked!!!
Thank you
