Problem: My XBOX 360 won't read my games anymore... Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I'm asking for help from internet users, imminent explosion... (of my anger on my console ^^)
So here’s the problem: my console no longer reads my games, however, it can read any music CDs, then I tried with a cleaning CD, and again, the games won't start. When I close the drive, the console goes into "reading" mode, then after about 10 seconds it makes a "tic tic tic" noise three times, then the console goes into "open the drive" mode (for info, I’ve tried all my games, so that says it all! :@) I would like to know what to do T-T I tried the console lying down, standing up (well, when you’re desperate, you try everything xD) so if a kind soul would have the goodness to help me *-* please!!

Hi! The same thing happened to a friend of mine. The only solution he found was to send his 360 to customer service. At least it didn't cost him anything, and his 360 works perfectly now. Good luck!

Thank you Slyyzz, but moreover I'm out of warranty ^^ and I have already called them and it didn't help me lol I explained exactly the problem, then they asked me to try another game... nothing worked, then a music CD... that works and the response was: "Well, up until now I thought the problem was with the player, but if it can read CDs and not games, it means they are too scratched and that the game player can no longer read them, so try a cleaning disc (which I did) or go have your games cleaned at a shop (which I did xD) call back if you have other problems... blah blah blah" but well it cost me 5€ and nothing works XD so the shopkeeper asked me to come back with the games (for free XD) he tested them and I can tell you they worked like new -_- and the guy I spoke to on the phone says it's not the console but the games, and the shopkeeper says the opposite and I don't know where to turn anymore so I'll try customer service if I really feel it's necessary but as long as I'm told that's not the issue I can't do anything xD but thanks anyway ^^

It's really weird then... If your games work in the merchant's console but not in yours, and if the merchant's games can work on your 360, frankly, I don't see where this madness comes from...

Salut, j'ai changé mon lecteur DVD car l'autre était cassé et là, il lit juste les DVD et les CD, il ne veut pas lire les jeux. Y a-t-il quelque chose à faire ou mon lecteur est-il aussi cassé ? Merci.

it did the same to me, I changed games several times then I put an audio CD in, at first nothing, but after I pushed the drawer with my finger it started working again for the games
otherwise you should never turn off your Xbox with a game running, remember to quit before turning it off, there you go

Hi, I still don't know how to fix this issue, but I've identified the cause! I took the whole reader apart, and on a printed circuit board, I saw a kind of dry black pad on my components. I don't really know what that means, but I think they're dead. If you want photos, just ask me. I'm going to try to remove this dry black pad now.

Hello everyone, I had the same problem not long ago. Go to my Xbox /system settings/memory/on the hard drive icon press the triangle button, and there you can rename and format it. Then you enter a special code with the controller: X, X, LB, RB, XX and you will do maintenance on your devices. It should be fine normally. Sorry for my spelling.

Hi, my problem is almost the same. When I put an Xbox 360 game into my Xbox 360, it goes into reading mode and then to open the tray. Sometimes it starts to read it but tells me I need to insert the game in an Xbox 360 console, or it says that to play DVDs I need a patch, or it tells me that the disc is unreadable. It’s not unreadable because I managed to play it easily at friends' who have an Xbox 360. I don’t know what to do anymore; I’ve cleaned my discs but to no avail. Please help me.

Hello everyone, sometimes you need to clear the cache memory of the Xbox. I've had several playback issues, and after this method, the games worked again.
I hope this can help you!
PS: this deletes the games saved on the hard drive but does not delete the saves, do not format it, just clear the cache memory.

Hello everyone! I had the problem of the unrecognized disc, meaning that whenever I wanted to play a game, my Xbox 360 would make noise but wouldn't launch the game, and would often tell me to clean my CD; once, it even told me in all languages to insert my Xbox 360 CD (Call of Duty) into an Xbox 360, lol. So here we go, go to Xbox menu / system settings / memory / on the disc icon, press the “Y” button, and there you have “rename” and “format”. Go to format and type in the serial number of your Xbox (in the message title when you click on reformat, they say where to find it, don’t worry ^^). Then restart your Xbox and there you go, a brand new Xbox working like new =). WARNING (all your data will be erased, including Gscore, game levels, everything ^^) and recreate an avatar. Good evening,I also have the same issue. Problem with reading video games. The disc spins several times and then it stops, then it starts again and stops again and tells me "open." So until now, I would wait for the engine to heat up a bit by putting in a DVD or playing downloaded games, and then I would put the game in and it would work. But today, I had trouble even getting DVDs or music CDs to work; they struggled to play, and when they finally did, they would freeze. I also formatted it, but nothing changed. I've had it for 14 months and I use it on average once or twice a week. I think I’ll get a cleaning disc, then I’ll see.

Hello, all my games work fine except for one, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai. The console starts making a strange noise, then a page appears and it tells me 1. Clean my disc with a clean CD and 2. Hello, I have a big problem, I'll explain everything from the beginning. I had an issue with my Xbox 360 drive; it wouldn't read discs anymore. So I replaced it with a BenQ drive and I didn't know I had to keep the old drive to retrieve the key and transfer it to the new one. Of course, now when I put a game into the console a screen appears asking me to insert it into an Xbox 360 console. My problem is that I got rid of the old drive thinking I wouldn't need it. Is there a solution to make the console work or have I made the mistake of the century? Thank you for your feedback and for your help.

Having the same problem as all of you and having tried all the techniques mentioned above, I watched with tears in my eyes as nothing worked...
Out of frustration and due to my severe lack of patience, I resorted to the "slap" technique...
Explanation: Close your fist, yell out in rage and anger while looking at your Xbox that desperately refuses to work, and give it a good slap in the face!!!!
Well, believe it or not, it worked! The game launched like magic when the little sound of the reader told me it was finally spinning!!
Sorry to all the purists for having brutalized my 360, but computers and I don't mix well, and I'm a bit binary like that, but hey, the result is there ;)

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM OF OPENING THE DISC DRIVE WHEN THE CD IS INSIDE BUT IT’S BRUTAL, YOU’LL BE AFRAID FOR YOUR XBOX. I’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A WHILE AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED TO IT, SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS:

- LAY THE XBOX DOWN
- INSERT THE CD
- AND WHILE IT'S READING, GIVE THE XBOX A FEW PUNCHES WITH YOUR PALM
- IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, TRY AGAIN

There you go, and for Xbox Live, Microsoft offers you a 3-month Silver subscription, but to activate it you need to connect the Ethernet cable to the modem and do updates, and there you go.

Hello, I've had the same problem as you several times. What I do is open my Xbox, open the disc drive, and clean the optical eye with a cotton swab. If that doesn't work, it's still the eye; you just need to move it to the edge of the thing that holds the disc (as close as possible to the tray), and then it works perfectly again.
