Xbox 360 game reading issue

Hi guys, I had the same problem as you: some of my games and DVDs wouldn't read with the same weird noise as yours, while others would eventually work after 5 or 6 tries. So I changed my lens (cost about €16 if you do it yourself) and since then, all my games and DVDs work on the first go. Hope this helps you!!

Salut à tous, pour ceux qui ont des problèmes de lecture de jeux sur Xbox 360, moi j'ai résolu mon problème. Ma console ne voulait plus lire mes jeux, mais on peut les lire si on insiste un peu. J'en ai eu marre, je suis allé au magasin et j'ai acheté un DVD nettoyeur, et maintenant ma console arrive à lire les jeux comme au début. Mais pour faire passer le DVD nettoyeur, il faut insister un peu. J'espère que ça vous aidera.

I want to specify that it's a Hitachi 79fk (but it might also work for others, we'll see)
I am a technician and a friend brought me his console for this issue, so I opened the console, listened to the noise of the motor (of the drive, of course) and there was a strange rubbing (you have to have an ear for it ;-) )
No need to completely disassemble it on this model.
On the top, there is a circular opening (about 3 or 4 cm in diameter, I can't remember) where the disk rotation fixation is located.

Peel off the metal circle; it should have the fixation that helps the disk rotate glued underneath (don't touch it, we don't care about that). Place the circle beside the console, then look inside the drive just above; you should see the center (where the motor spins the disk).
Now what interests us is to see if the magnet (a cylinder about 1 cm in diameter and approximately 5 mm thick; I don't remember the exact size) is still well glued in its place.
Its place is in the middle at the center of the drive.
In fact, you need to check if it doesn't move because the problem was with it in my case. It was well centered but moved up and down; I could even pull it out.
That's not good because it doesn't push the CD or DVD high enough when there's one in the drive, hence the reading problem. (this drive is really crappy)
The simple solution is to take it and put some super glue at its base, and you're done....

Hi, I have the same problem and I have a good solution: when you close the drive, you need to tap it lightly with your fist on top of the console just before the second noise that goes crack, and normally there won't be a second noise.

I have the same problem with Call of Duty 6.

So here it is, I have 3 Xbox 360 with my roommate in total, 2 of his have the same problem, having to start and restart the games an endless number of times for them to eventually launch, and at that point, install them as quickly as possible (it will be easier for them to restart the next time).
Otherwise, today a friend announced the good news that "my Xbox is dead, it's overheating, I bought a new one".
