Hello,
When I tried to restart my TNTsat decoder, it stays stuck on the startup screen.
Do you know how to resolve this issue?
Thank you

This decoder is a scam despite its excellent performance:
Explanation, it is sold in version 4.0.5, however with this firmware version, it is not possible to receive HD channels. For that, the decoder must be updated to version 4.05b which can only be done via satellite. However, Sagem marketed version 4.0.5b, and TNTSAT made it available on its satellite from February 15, 2009, to March 17, 2009. If you purchased this decoder during that period, no problem, your version is up to date and can receive HD. On the other hand, if like me you bought the decoder after March 17, 2009, you’re stuck with SD and not HD, because TNTSAT has removed the 4.0.5b update from the satellite, leaving you with a 400 euro decoder for SD only. So hats off to TNTSAT and Sagem, and congratulations to those who sell it like Darty, Boulanger, FNAC, or other stores that sell this decoder as HD! They are really taking the consumer for a ride!

Hello,
I was about to buy this decoder for its dual tuner, its HDD, and its HD, but considering your message that makes me think you seem to be very well informed, I no longer see the point if it is not going to receive HD. I don't quite understand the reason for this deliberate choice. On another note, I don't know if you can answer me, but is TNTSAT's position definitive or provisional? I think if it is definitive, it will be detrimental to SAGEM, won't it? What do you think?
Thank you for your response.

CanalSAT was ordered by the CSA to provide a free DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) offer via satellite, which probably did not please them since they already had a paid offer. I suppose they are doing everything possible to legally disadvantage TNTSAT customers by withdrawing this satellite update. Perhaps by filing complaints with the CSA and TNTSAT... and even with Sagem.

Thank you for your clarifications and especially curious to know their origin, but to return to our conversation...
Contrary to what Dourja wrote below, I do not believe that SAGEM is to blame for this.
SAGEM sells devices equipped to receive HD, so I do not see what their interest would be in ensuring that individuals do not receive it. In any case, it is TNTSAT that decides on the update of this software, over which SAGEM (the manufacturer) no longer has control once the device is sold. Therefore, it is not SAGEM that should be held accountable, but certainly TNTSAT first and foremost. But then, it's like fighting a losing battle; most people probably do not know about this situation, and TNTSAT won't care much about a complaint from a few isolated individuals! But who knows?
There remains the CSA.
Since they have a lot on their plate with the commissioning of TNT transmitters, which apparently still have a long list, I do not think they have the time to investigate the issue, because unfortunately and probably, HD broadcasting is not an obligation (which I believe, but I could be mistaken) for TNTSAT, which nevertheless broadcasts TNT!
I thought about the DGCCRF, but again, I do not see what they can do for the same reasons stated above. There is no fault or deception as long as HD broadcasting is not mandatory.
In the meantime, SAGEM will continue to sell these decoders, although they are probably aware of the problem.
I think the best thing is to wait for things to settle.
In summary, my issue was not to receive TNT via satellite at all costs, as I receive TNT through an antenna, but the reception is sometimes erratic for certain channels making it impossible to follow a show without pixelation, frame freezing, interruptions, or other inconveniences.

Dourja, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 09:20:07 If it is specified in the manufacturer's document that this device allows for HD broadcasts, you have the right to demand from Sagem that they update the software. You should write a "recommended" letter with acknowledgment of receipt in the name of the CEO of Sagem to make this request. If the response is negative, or if there is no response, you have a possible legal recourse.
Moreover, I think that this device will mainly be intended for operators, who will have all the keys to record, play back shows on delay,..., in HD or not, in short, everything this device can do from its own keyboard commands and regularly updated software.
But here, the operator will likely charge under the form of options for these "a la carte" choices.

I don't know who is at fault, but among the mentioned parties, everyone has their share of responsibility.
Canal will say: Sagem just needs to provide the decoder in version 4.05b or a download site (support)
Sagem will say: Canal is not complying with the CSA's request
The seller will say: It's written on it, so I'm selling what is written.
The buyer will say: I was sold a decoder for €400 to receive TNTSAT with the 4 HD channels

The loop is closed, there is only one authority that can assign in much more precise terms the tasks that each one must perform. The Master remaining the buyer who is free to buy or not the equipment offered to him now that he knows the new data.

For my part, I advocate that a firmware 4.05b be available on the Sagem site, as many brands do, and the mistake... will be corrected.

Hello everyone,
This label simply indicates that the decoder is Canal+ certified (personally mine is not Canal Ready certified because when I bought it, this label did not exist yet). This page explains this label in more detail https://www.01net.com/actualites/canal-plus-veut-son-propre-label-sur-les-televiseurs-501659.html
If it is possible to schedule multiple recordings simultaneously thanks to the dual tuner.

Hello everyone,

I see that the DTR94160S HD is causing some issues for some of you. That's why I've decided to share my experience.
I bought this decoder on 12/13/08 after returning the ISD91HD, which froze every time I tried to install it.
I connected the DTR via HDMI to my SAMSUNG 81CM HDREADY LCD TV and to my PIONEER Home Theater via RCA.
The initial installation was relatively long (maybe 20 or 30 minutes) while it found all the national and international channels.
I then had to restart because the channels were not on the correct numbers.
So, I restarted it and waited 5 minutes, and then I had all the TNT channels + the HD channels (51 (TF1), 52 (France2), 56 (M6), 57 (Arte) + a multitude of foreign channels.
Once the installation was finished, my issue was that every time it came out of standby, I had to go through a systematic initialization that took 5 minutes, with a message saying that new channels had been detected and that I could install them. This lasted for 4 months, and since I didn't want to leave the device on overnight (for ventilation + hard drive), I had to wait 5 minutes each time I powered it back on.
Then in April, an update was offered to me. I accepted it. As a result, the startup waiting time increased from 5 to 10 minutes.
Annoyed by this situation, at the beginning of May, I decided to delete the updates by resetting to factory settings. And there, MIRACLE, the device restarted and the channel displayed after just 5 seconds, plus I no longer received that message constantly offering to install new channels.
As a result, I now have a device that works perfectly (given the price, that's the least it should do).
I no longer have international channels, but I have the 19 TNT channels + the 4 HD channels, which are really of very high clarity (you feel like you want to step into the screen, it's amazing).
A little extra, the integrated hard drive is really great and it is very simple and quick to use from the remote control. No more waiting for the DVD recorder to boot up to use the hard drive.
In short, all this to say that by resetting to factory settings from the configuration menu, you might be able to solve your problems.
Good luck.

Hello Nono
I don't know if you're still reading this blog?
If so, do you know how I can transfer a downloaded show to the hard drive of the 94160S HD
which I'm currently quite happy with, I had it installed a week ago, via the USB port to an external hard drive.
Thank you in advance if you can reply.

Hello,

if I may ... it's not complicated:

you go to your list of recordings. You select the one you want to export. You press the red "A" button on your remote. A window will appear with "video export". You choose this function and you're good to go!

Bye.

Thank you for your reply cricri-canelle
I did find the video export function, but now I am being asked to select the path of the folder?
I'm not very experienced with this equipment, can you tell me how I should proceed?
Thank you

I managed to find out how to get to the repository path.
It's true that it's simple and all it took was to think of it.
Thanks again for your help, which has been invaluable to me.

I got a new update, honestly they should have kept it, since I have a home theater I set it up to have sound for a home theater but now because of the update with this setting I can no longer change the volume from the remote control of the decoder.

"They should have kept it to themselves": that's where I draw the line. First, one should consider redoing their certification! (The man is a frog who has his certificate, a poet said).

Sagem is not white/blue but CANAL, they are truly ~#{#~ they remove this satellite update without caring about future buyers. As for the seller, he doesn’t care at all; he would sell crap and it wouldn’t bother him any more.

Hello everyone,

I am the happy owner of a Sagem DTR 94160S, here’s what happens regarding its operation:

Before the update on 29/04/09
4 HD channels: TF1, A2, M6, Arte. Sound in 5.1 on all HD channels, no operating issues with a recent television. However, it should be noted that it is not possible to receive other channels than those from TNT SAT on Astra without waiting about 20 minutes for scanning upon restarting the Sagem. The bug, however abnormal, is easy to avoid; just don't detect these channels and radio during installation.
Regarding HD as well as SD channels, everything works very well; the images and sound, whether recorded or live, are of excellent quality.

After the update on 29/04/09
The sound on the HD channels no longer works on my Bravia TV. It still works on my home cinema. Bugs fixed? Thanks to SAGEM for letting me know, in any case the one described previously is new.

Conclusions:
I think that SAGEM and TNT SAT, in agreement, have no interest in this HD service functioning properly for free (or almost: €400 for the Sagem at purchase nonetheless!). These companies that work in quality assurance with customer service are not communicative; they are unreachable online or by phone to receive and resolve the issues they cause...
The only hope today is that the CSA knows how to enforce the law against the distribution trust.

Hello,

were you the lucky owner of this decoder between February 15 and March 17, 2009, which would explain why you receive HD, or did you buy it after March 17, 2009, which would mean that software 4.05b is active for HD, something I'm not aware of and which could change everything regarding the potential purchase of this decoder?

Thank you.
Have a good afternoon.

Hello,

I bought the Sagem last Friday (September 30, 2009) and the update went straight through when I turned it on, and I am receiving HD from TF1, France 2, M6, and Arte.

Hello,
Does anyone know how to change the order of channels on a Canalsat decoder?
Let me explain: I receive HD channels (TF1, FR2...) but on channels 51, 52, 54, 56, which bothers me a bit.
How can I put TF1 HD on channel 1?

Hello,
to answer your question and if it hasn't been done already... For my part, it switched by itself without me intervening!
It must have been done via satellite!
Just wait a bit and I think it will be the same for you.
Instead of 54 and 56, isn't it more like 56 and 57? Well, it doesn’t matter much...

Hello,

regarding this decoder, I have 3 questions:

- I read here and there "Sagem 94160 canal ready". What does this label, which didn't exist a few months ago, mean now?
- When considering a potential purchase of this equipment, should I choose the site (not all do this) that offers it as "canal ready" or are all currently sold Sagem 94160, regardless of the site, "canal ready"? Isn't there a risk of buying this device NOT Canal ready, and what would the risk be?

- I read in the descriptive notice that it is not possible to schedule a recording. Is this true?

Thank you for your answers and have a good day.

Hello,

I would like to buy this terminal, but do you absolutely need 2 LNBs on the satellite dish to record one channel while watching another?

Thank you for your response.

Best regards,

canelle-cricri > totophe

Hello,

in response to your question, it is not necessary to have 2 tuners to record one channel and watch another.
With 1 tuner, the Sagem 94160 S allows:

- to record one program and watch another as long as it is from the same group, which is the case 85-90% of the time with DTT.
- to record 2 programs from the same group and watch 1 of the 2.
- to watch 1 program in time-shift mode while recording another program from the same group.
- to watch 1 recorded program and record 1 or 2 programs from the same group.

With 2 tuners, the Sagem 94160 S allows:

- to record one program and watch another program (regardless of the group).
- to record 2 programs in 2 different groups and watch 1 of the 2.
- to watch 1 program in time-shift mode while recording another program.
- to watch 1 recorded program and record 1 or 2 programs (regardless of the group).

I bought this device 2 or 3 months ago. I am very satisfied with it despite a few crashes due to certain manipulations that it doesn't like very much. However, it has no consequence other than a reset at startup which takes about 20 to 30 seconds to wait.
Its timeshift function is simply brilliant. You can watch a program and at any moment you can go back, to the beginning of the show, record it from the start even if you’ve been watching it for an hour, etc...
It's a rolling recording for 2 hours.
However, you shouldn't change the channel, otherwise the timeshift function will restart on this new channel!
Happy with this device!
Hoping to have answered your question.
Have a good afternoon.

Thank you to canelle-cricri for taking the time to respond to me so thoroughly.
Jim 1995 got ahead of me, to learn about the different groups of channels.
Are you having problems receiving HD programs because apparently you need the right update.
I plan to buy it in the next few days, its price has dropped to 331 € (including shipping) at Pixmania or 330 € at "la boutique du net".

In another context, I am also planning to buy an LCD screen to replace my CRT tube, I am hesitating between the Samsung LE40B620 and the Philips 42PFL8404H. Has anyone already tried either of the two models or do you have an opinion on these screens?

Thank you for your future responses.
Best regards,

Hello Totophe,

I had no problem receiving the HD channels from the first setup. I think the correct update was either integrated into the device or happened during the setup.
By the way, some time later, I had a software update, but I don't know what it was for.
Some time ago, the HD channels 51, 52, 56, and 57 changed to 1, 2, 6, and 7 and vice versa. No problem, everything works fine.
As for the channel groups, I will check and let you know as soon as possible. I either have direct information, or I need to perform the following test:
- I record channel 1 and see if I can watch channels 2, 3, 4, etc...
- I do the same thing recording channel 2 and see if I can watch channels 3, 4, 5, etc...
and so on until the last channel.
I do have 2 LNBs, but I think I have a setup issue, as I am currently in a single LNB reception scenario.
Otherwise, no advice on your future TV choice.
See you later!

Since this evening, I have terrible sound, with low power, on the speakers of my sound system and on the TV.
Have you ever had this issue?

Best regards,

Hello Totophe,
You’re really piling them up! What are you doing with your devices?
I haven’t experienced this problem yet. Everything is going well. I connected my decoder to my home theater via HDMI and the output from my home theater to the TV via HDMI. I no longer have sound from the TV, but from my home theater, which is much more powerful.
Apparently, you’ve had this problem since last night, so that means it was working fine from installation until last night, or am I mistaken?
Try, if you haven't already, connecting your decoder directly to the TV while making the correct settings in the - Terminal installation - sound settings, and see if it works. You'll know if the decoder is the issue.
If it works, then you have a connection and/or compatibility and/or decoder-channel settings problem.
I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you anything else.

Come on, hang in there! It’s going to work!
Keep me updated on your progress.

Indeed, before it was working very well, I didn't touch anything.
The terminal is already connected directly to my TV via the SCART socket because I still have a CRT. And I connected my stereo to the analog audio outputs of the terminal.
On the TV speakers, the sound is still terrible, and on the stereo, I have to turn the volume all the way up just to hear it....
Indeed, I'm unlucky, but everything was working well before.
Apparently, I can't adjust the sound when I don't have an audio/video amplifier on the terminal.
What seems strange to me is that even the recordings I made before don't work either in terms of sound. I'm afraid it might be a problem with the terminal; I don't know what else to do...

Good evening Totophe,

your problem is really strange! Apparently, something happened with the decoder, something it didn't like over time.
I don't know if you've tried it and if the result has been/will be beneficial, but have you done a reset?
Otherwise, I don't see where this problem could come from or what else you can do.
The only thing left for you to do is return the device, which should still be under warranty. I guess the 7-day reflection period has now passed.
Bye.

I've already reset it several times but with no results.
I plan to call technical support first thing Monday morning, but I'm afraid the only solution, as you said, is to send the equipment back....

Thank you anyway for answering my questions, I'll keep you updated on how things go...

Hello,
I have been the happy owner of the TNTsat decoder: Sagem DTR94160 for a few days now, and I am very satisfied with it except for a small problem with the USB key. When I insert it, it shows the content on the screen but I can't open any files? Since my computer is a Mac, could it be the cause? Would it work under Windows? Thank you for your explanations.

My deco was purchased in October, some hassles with countless update attempts, I gave it a lot of time and it worked well:
canal ready, it works very well with a multi+ canal card THAT starts with 39

My concern is, what is the video export function for?

Unreadable on a PC with all the software I found online for playback as well as video editing

In the documentation, it forgets to mention this function

In the technical specs, it says that the HD has AES 128 encryption, is this due to that?

Is it possible to change the 160GB HD for a larger, unencrypted one?

cricri-canelle

Hi,
your message is very interesting ....
as for exporting files, I have the same issue with HD. I simply think they have put in a protection, that it's intentional, that they don't want HD to be exported! it's unacceptable, but what can we do about it? We have to live without it. Maybe it will change one day! On the other hand, I think it should be possible for SD files, but I haven't tried that yet.
Going back to those HD files, it is possible to export them to USB drives, hard drives, etc ... but they are impossible to read regardless of the interface, PC, DVD, hard drive, USB drive, etc ... they are files with the extension .ts. I tried to convert them with video editing software, even tried cutting them with mpg2cut2 which recognizes .ts extensions, but nothing works! unknown video codec ...
All of this is certainly intentional by the manufacturer or Canalsat.
AES 128 encryption, I don't know....
Regarding changing the hard drive, I read on this forum that some people have done it. So it is possible. I am not going to dive into that, because in terms of warranty, if there is a problem, I don’t know if it would be covered.

Good luck.

Good evening,

it's really very nice of you to take a look at this problem.
However, I don't know how to upload a file to the internet and give you the link to that file. There is Hiboox.com, but that's only for photos.
If you could tell me how to do it, that would be doubly nice; otherwise, there's always good old email, which probably allows sending larger files.
Starting tomorrow, I will prepare a piece of recording in SD while waiting for your response.

Thank you and good night, and above all, Happy New Year 2010!

Hello Gerbille,

thank you again for helping me to decode these damn .ts files.
I have sent you this file named PALOMAR.ts, hoping that you will receive it, as I am not sure if it was sent properly! It’s around 30 MB. I can’t make it smaller, since the decoder refuses to extract it if the duration is less than 1 minute or something close to that... I probably should have compressed it, but what would I gain from that?
By the way, when I extract this type of file, I get another file, PALOMAR, with a .vdbsag extension of 80 KB that accompanies this .ts file. I didn't send it to you, thinking it wouldn’t be very useful for you.

Good luck and thank you again for letting me know if you didn’t receive it.

Have a nice evening.

I have the DTR 94160s HD decoder and I'm satisfied with it;

I only have two problems:

1) When I want to view photos (JPEG) from a USB stick, either the decoder does not recognize the stick for some photos, or it recognizes it but does not display any for others.

2) When I view a recording on the hard drive with the sound connected to a home theater system via the digital RCA jack, and I press the pause button, the decoder emits a dreadful noise through the speakers.

Has anyone experienced the same issues and know the causes?

Thank you for your response.

Hello jazzcouture,

if I may ... having had this decoder since last August.

- 1st question: I can't answer it, as I've never done the operation because I'm not interested, owning moreover a multimedia HDD with a much larger capacity. I use the decoder's HDD just for recording movies.

- 2nd question: I don't know if the noise you're experiencing is transient or long-lasting, continuous. All I can tell you is that I had a sort of crackling, an unpleasant dry sound, but transient every time I paused or restarted the playback.
One day, I had an automatic update of the decoder, and I happily realized, though not immediately, that these cracklings had disappeared! Is there a cause-and-effect relationship? I don't know! But since then, it's been perfect.

I almost forgot, I'm connected via HDMI cable to my home theater.

Back to the decoder, I'm very satisfied except for exporting movies to HDD or USB stick, possible, but unusable for playback !!!!

Have a nice day.
