Canon MVX200i Camcorder Issue

Hello,
I purchased a Canon MVX200 camcorder in 2005. The warranty expired in January 2007....
The camcorder asked me to eject the cassette due to an error: EJECT. Since then, I can no longer insert any cassettes. The casing closes properly without a cassette, but it consistently spits out all cassettes.
Here is the response from Canon's FAQ:
Cause: A safety mechanism has been activated due to an internal problem with the camcorder.
Solutions:
* Remove the cassette, then reinsert it or replace it with another cassette.
* If the "EJECT" message does not disappear, you will need to have your camcorder repaired to resolve the issue.
I took the device to the service center in Courbevoie, and I have just received the estimate: 350€ blink.gif for replacing the mechanical chassis and the printed circuit board.
That seems excessive to me, and I wonder if it really is worth it to have it repaired.
Have you ever faced this problem?
Can you give me your opinions regarding the problem and the estimate?
Thank you for your help.

YES, THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM; I HAVE A CANON AND I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, VERY SIMPLE WITH A SMALL SCREWDRIVER BUT VERY SMALL, TURN THE KNOB TO THE RIGHT IN THE CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. THIS KNOB IS USED TO DRIVE THE CASSETTE, YOU HAVE 2 WHEN THE CASSETTE HOUSING OPENS? YOU WILL SEE 2 WHITE PLASTIC LATCHES, TURN THE ONE ON THE RIGHT SEVERAL TIMES DELICATELY ON THE NOTCHED PART, THEN DO A TEST; IF IT DOES NOT WORK, REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS. FOR MY PART, MY CAMCORDER IS WORKING AGAIN AND I NO LONGER HAVE A PROBLEM.
Hello,
I have EXACTLY the same problem with my Canon MVX200i!
When I put in a cassette, it hesitates before going down, doesn't go down, beeps, and then ejects.
If I don't put in a cassette and perform the closing maneuver, everything works normally.
I have 6 vacation cassettes that I can no longer read! I'm so frustrated...
I contacted Canon. They ask me to send the device for repair. They are willing to give me a quote, but do not commit to the final price. If I understood correctly, you have gone further than I have, and they are asking for a repair price that is comparable to that of a decent used one...
I have decided to give up. I'm waiting to see if I can find a used device on eBay or elsewhere that would allow me to save my vacation films (without paying the 20 euros per cassette that professional labs charge).
Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
But if you find the technical solution, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jacques.

I see that you have problems with your camcorder regarding the cassette loader; I will sell the same device in good condition, available for a potential purchase. Best regards. (I also have 7 cassettes for sale). Phone 0327455274.
Thank you Mr. Claude Tambrun,
But in the meantime, I bought a Canon MX200i camcorder identical to mine.
It allowed me to watch my precious vacation tapes!
Hap--py ... !
Thank you for your offer, but I am already satisfied.
For your information, I bought the machine on eBay from an owner in Nancy, France, for the sum of 200 Euros, including shipping.
It was a bit much, but now I have an extra charger and battery.
Good luck with the sale of your machine,
Best regards
Jacques.

Hello Chrisfor,
the camcorder is from 2003.
I have made about 4 one-hour films on average per year.
It works perfectly.
to contact me, send me your email address...
