Hello,
I just installed the Wi-Fi network at my place, everything works fine on my PC, but my roommate, who has a laptop with Windows Vista, is having trouble.
When I right-click on the two computers at the bottom right and search for the network connection, the PC finds the network but refuses to connect.
It says: Your network administrator has blocked your connections to this network.
This is also displayed for nearby detected networks.
Moreover, he is the administrator of his PC.
I have searched for hours for a solution in vain and I hope someone has the solution.

Try this, I had the same problem.
Type "cmd" in the search bar without pressing "enter" and right-click on cmd and select run as administrator, then type these commands one by one in the window, confirming after each one and then restart your PC.
netsh wlan delete filter permission=denyall networktype=infrastructure
netsh wlan delete filter permission=denyall networktype=adhoc

Did you authorize your roommate's PC to connect to your router? What router do you have?
On the Livebox, you need to press the "association" button while the device is trying to connect to the Wi-Fi

Re..
The box has a recent date; I don't believe it's for this model... ?
In addition, on some models, the firmware version is marked on the box!
But what matters is which version is displayed in the interface? Look!
Pre-configured => PPPoE (RJ45 WLAN):
http://shc-download.siemens.com/repository/1554/155411/Gigaset_SE551_WLAN_DSL_Cable_V2706.exe
Pre-configured => Dynamic IP (RJ45 WLAN):
http://shc-download.siemens.com/repository/1554/155412/Gigaset_SE551_WLAN_DSL_Cable_V2707.exe
You have to go to the site for the links to work... http://gigaset.com/shc/0,1935,fr_fr_0_89729_rarnrnrnrn_variation%253A-5_pageType%253Adownloads_imagePos%253A0,00.html
/!\ The 2 versions are the same! Except for the RJ45 WLAN connection mode configured by default...

My router is a Siemens Gigaset SE551 WLAN, and in the configuration, I set up WEP security, and that's it. But I just tried to set it to no protection, but it doesn't work.
For Ethernet connections, there is no security, no key, or association. So it works directly
but it might come from Vista

Hello
To do it right (without power cuts), have you updated your SE551 router?
***
I have this model (and a RJ45/WiFi bridge that I haven't opened the box for yet as I don't need it for now (I retrieved the firmware that supports WPA keys) = handy for connecting the RJ45 WLAN (internet input/output) to your modem).

Looking forward to your response...

Hello everyone
[Vista] Managing Wireless Networks

If that can help you :)
Under XP, I prefer using the XP WiFi manager even if we have to install the WiFi software!
Check if on Vista you can manage WiFi with the Vista WiFi manager if it's better and more stable!
Tip: eMule allows you to maintain an active connection almost all the time = no WiFi dropouts!

I can maybe read even if I don't reply ...
