Disconnect Xbox 360 controller Solved

Question

Hello,

here is my problem. I have an Xbox 360 with a wireless controller. The first problem is that the controller disconnects often! Too often!!

Of course, my console displays "please reconnect the controller..." and pauses the game every time.

The second problem is that the batteries are new and I am only 1.5 meters away from my Xbox...

A little info: the ring on the controller spins from time to time, but without disconnecting, and suddenly it cuts out without even the ring flashing...

I’m going to tell you something I tried that worked:

It might come from the battery holder, and more specifically from the conductor (the little metal piece in each battery slot).
So I tried something, I put in a new conductor: aluminum... and not just a little...

AND IT WORKS!

(I do this with rechargeable batteries.)

Hi,  I have exactly the same problem as you. I just came out of Micromania, they just did an exchange for the controller, we'll see, but it might be the console... what a drag. I'll keep you posted @+

Salut alors essaie d'appuyer sur le petit bouton sur ta Xbox qui est situé en dessous de la carte mémoire et en même temps tu appuies sur le même petit bouton mais sur ta manette et elle doit se connecter pour toujours.
Réponds-moi si ça ne marche pas !

it's not working :(  it keeps disconnecting.... I tried reversing the batteries (which is pointless) and it hasn't turned back on since (I haven’t played with it for a long time after that)

I have no idea where it could come from, but in any case, with a battery, when the light is flashing, it means the controller needs to be charged. So I think it comes from the batteries.

I think I'm going to buy a wired controller (lighter and smaller). Then I don't have to move around (I'm 1.50 meters from the console and I'm lounging on my bed), so I'm going to try that instead (especially at €15 for the battery with the charging cable, no thanks).

Hi,

so even with my new controllers, it’s not working.
I called Micromania and they told me I needed to deal directly with Microsoft.
They gave me a toll-free number to activate the warranty.
First of all, the guy asked me to change the batteries, which I couldn't do, but I doubt that's it because the battery indicator in the Xbox menu is OK.
I’ll try again tonight and keep you updated.

I was warned that this console wasn't reliable...

I think that with a wired controller there isn't this problem (it must come from the console's Wi-Fi).

Hi,

I also had this problem, my controller would disconnect quite often and since I play PGR4 during full drifts, it's not great when it pauses. Anyway, I realized that it was when the controller vibrated that it would disconnect, and after disabling the vibrations, it no longer disconnects. I think the vibrations are the cause of this issue. But it's not a real solution; I hope I was able to help you :)

It's exactly what I just realized with Need for Speed Undercover! During a chase, every time a cop crashed into me, it disconnected me!

Little hiccup in all this, after disabling the vibrations, it disconnects once in a while... but much less!!

I'm still going to buy myself a wired controller...

it's true that every time the controller vibrated, there was a disconnection.
However, as soon as I changed my batteries, everything went back to normal.
I wasn't thinking about that at all since the battery indicator showed 3 bars out of 4.
Before investing in a wired controller, change your batteries: it will cost you less, guys!

I also have this problem with the controller sold with the Xbox, which is NEW from Christmas, and with the controller from the Halo pack, which is also NEW from Christmas.

I tested my batteries, they are about 1.3 volts, which is more than enough for my controllers to work.

I play Halo online, and every time I'm facing someone, POP "reconnect your controller," and by the time I do that, I'm dead, and it’s really frustrating because I can't do anything!!!

If anyone has a real solution or a phone number to call, that would help me a lot. Thank you.

I’m sure that when you started playing, everything was fine.
If you change your batteries, everything will be fine again.
It’s awful, stupid, and mean, but that’s how it is.
In my opinion, these controllers only work if the batteries are full.

I just got back from my vendor, he also gave me the number for customer service.

He told me he had never seen that... surprising for a guy whose job it is...

So I’ll have to call customer service, but it won’t be tonight.

Yes, I called Microsoft's customer service last week.
Decent service, toll-free number, so that's cool.
However, I called them on a Tuesday in the middle of the afternoon, and I bet it's crazy to reach them in the evening.

I have the same problem, my controller turns off in the middle of the game  I have 3 out of 4 bars left on my batteries, I will change them during the week and hope it works, otherwise I will buy a battery (does the battery last long?)

Change the batteries; it's not working   well, yes, this solution will work until the batteries reach 80% charge, and this happens every time you change your batteries. And after that, my controller will start shutting down again (and not necessarily with a vibration; in Prototype, every time I do a charged attack, which is every 4 seconds, the controller shuts off, but without any vibration.   and it gets expensive to only use 20% of a battery...  I'm fed up because this happens with all my controllers (I have 4 wireless ones), and I'm really afraid it might be the console's fault  Has anyone heard of a case where it was the console that was malfunctioning?

Hi,  Indeed, back then, I felt like this started happening when the batteries were at 80% power. I bought a battery charger, and everything is sorted now. Okay, it's still 15€, but I would never question the wireless mode; it's an undeniable comfort.

Hello  As for me, I have 2 Xbox 360. One of them disconnects constantly with the controller, the other has no issues. I noticed that if I put my hand in front of the power button, it disconnects, while the other console has no problem. So I think it's more likely a console issue.

Certainly, because my console is new, the batteries in the controller are too, and my controller disconnected and since then I can't reconnect it, and I've done everything: changed the batteries, pressed simultaneously for syncing, etc., and nothing at all. BRAVO MICROSOFT!!!!!

Hello, even though this topic is closed, I’d like to share my experience: I changed my console because it had the three red lights, so I bought an arcade one for not too much, about €150. Everything went well with the batteries and the packaging. Now that I’ve changed the batteries, my controller keeps disconnecting. I bought batteries and faced the same disconnection issue after 5 minutes, and the worst part is that I have two rechargeable controllers, and they won't sync either, despite having full batteries. On Monday, I’m going to Micromania; I’ll let you know more.  P.S: Has anyone else had this problem, and what did they do? Thanks.

The problem is the vibration... Yes, yes... Disable the vibrations of the controller in the game you are playing, you will see, the problem is much less frequent and in some cases, it is eradicated.
*Central button >> Preferences >> Uncheck Vibrations.
Otherwise, let's say you want to keep the vibes, you invest in a battery+charger or, even more reliable, the wired controller (reliable and cheaper than the "wireless" although, for the price it depends on where you buy).
When we were kids, (for the older ones) we had all crappy games, wired controllers that barely allowed us to go 1 meter from the console and we didn't care about vibrations, in fact at the beginning, there weren't any.
I think we are too demanding or too complicated today and that we throw our money out the window, we are encouraged to do so in any case.

Good evening. I have the same issue, as soon as there is vibration, the controller disconnects automatically... It's really annoying. I'm playing FFXIII and the battles continue even with the controller disconnected... It's quite bothersome.  I will try changing the batteries; it's true that on the interface they still show 3/4 full... We'll see!  I'll keep you posted ;)
