Hello, on an HP dv5-1010ef laptop my WIFI access no longer works. The network key/button on the keyboard stays “red.” Is there a keyboard shortcut to re-enable WiFi? or how to diagnose the problem? Random or not, it started after installing a wireless Logitech mouse.
Thanks for your ideas

If you have trouble with your wifi on HP (the button stays orange).
Uninstall the Wi‑Fi network card:
To uninstall the Wi‑Fi card: "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Device Manager" => "Network adapters" => Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100 => right-click: "Uninstall".
We will now reinstall it:
Still in Device Manager, right-click on "Network adapters" => "Scan for hardware changes".
The computer will automatically reinstall the Wi‑Fi network card. At this stage, normally the button should work.
However, it may happen that after pressing it, it stays orange and on screen it shows successively "Wireless Local Area Network: Powered off" then "Wireless Local Area Network: Disabled".
At this stage, go back to the Control Panel and click on "HP Wireless Assistant", then check the Local Area Network status, by clicking "Enable" if necessary.
Once enabled, if the button is not blue yet, press it again, it should work.

hello,
I have the same problem as Tom, my wifi indicator stays red.
I tried the manipulation mentioned by Tom but unfortunately I can't activate my wifi there, the button can't be activated,
could someone have a solution please?
thanks -
What I did before finding Tom's trick, which works in my case, was to perform a system restore (I’m on Vista) by rebooting Windows in "Safe Mode," otherwise it doesn’t work.
I’ve had the problem with the warning light at least 5 times since I’ve had my laptop, and the only thing I found that helped was a system restore. After the system restore, I still had to update the antivirus.
See you later (A+). -
uninstall the driver for your WiFi and then reinstall another one. i think that should work. it’s only a software problem.

Yes I just tried it and it works!! Under Vista, just uninstall the Wi-Fi network card and then reinstall the driver you’ll find at this link:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18203/eng/ICS_Dv32.exe&agr=&ProductID=&DwnldId=18203&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=fra
To uninstall the Wi‑Fi card: "Start" => "Settings" => "Control Panel" => "Device Manager" => "Network adapters" => Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 => "uninstall"
There you go, I hope this will be useful to you!
