Hello,
I have no audio output, whether through speakers or headphones, I need to restore my PC to factory settings to get sound back. But the problem is that when I have to restart the PC after installing the antivirus (Avast), the problem comes back and I have no sound.
I have the sound icon with a small white cross in a red circle. When I hover the mouse over this icon, I get the following message: No audio output device is installed.
I looked in the device manager and I have "Audio, Video and Game Controllers" which has disappeared!
I checked using Msinfo32, and there is nothing at all in components => audio devices.
I searched the web for solutions, and I keep finding that updating the drivers is the solution, but that doesn't seem to be the problem since I have sound from one startup to another!
Can someone propose a solution?
Thanks to those willing to take the time to help me solve this very troublesome issue!

Hello, here is my problem: I turned on my PC for the first time this morning without any issues, then I had to shut it down, and when I turned it back on, there was a cross on the sound icon telling me that no audio output device has been installed. When I go to the device manager, I notice that my sound, video, and game controller has disappeared. Can you help me? I am a beginner, thank you.
