Hello,
I am in 9th grade and I would like to become a video game designer.
Could you please enlighten me on the studies to pursue starting from 10th grade, and if you know a high school in the 06 (Alpes-Maritimes) please let me know its name.
Thank you in advance and see you soon.

I don't think you can start developer studies before the baccalaureate. But I wouldn't bet my life on it either.
In my opinion, you should look into OpenGL, ideally paired with C++ in OOP (Object-Oriented Programming).
In 9th grade, I programmed Tetris in VBASIC, self-taught. It's tough; you have to think differently, think 'Machine'!
If you're starting from scratch, you need to get to it!

Good evening,
I want to tell you that you also need to be sure that this is the right path for you. The job of a programmer is very hard. I programmed my first game in 9th grade as well (so last year), it was much less prestigious than Jeylo's because it was simply a game where you have to find a hidden number. I programmed it in Python, which is a very simple and readable language, and yet I remember how terrible it was. I don't want to scare you, but it is truly hard. You must suspect it; I had the same dream as well, but now I am in a hotel management program and I am creating a small game on RPG Maker XP. But if after my rant you are not discouraged, here’s some information I found in my youth (well, a year isn't that long) http://perso.numericable.fr/ckckck/MetiersJeuxVideos.htm#LES%20FORMATIONS

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot the most important part: https://openclassrooms.com/fr/
The best site to start from scratch, if you want to begin this is where you should go, they have very well-explained tutorials, lots of friendly people, everything you need.
Good luck with your studies if you continue down this path.

Hello,
If I may say so.
A computer science program is doable after the third year of secondary school by entering a CFA. Of course, the specialization in Video Games comes later, but CFAs open the doors to training from CAP to university diplomas, contrary to popular belief. The diplomas obtained, regardless of their levels, also pave the way for more conventional programs, like those in high schools, IUTs, IUPs...
Here is the directory of CFAs to get in touch with those in your area and find out if they offer the possibilities that could lead you towards Video Games.
Otherwise, you have the graphic designer program that can lead you there. You can also check with the DMA.
In any case, make sure to get information right now from the CIO/DIDJ in your area for complete documentation. You can also request an appointment, right now, with the guidance counselor. At ONISEP as well, either on their website or near you.
Let's remember that the concept of "CAP" is being modified... and that this diploma, which is currently prepared from the fifth year, will be prepared starting from the third year from 2009, if the Bac Pro reform goes through :)
Safe travels to all.
