Problem with Philips VR550 VCR

Hello,
My problem is as follows:
my VCR stopped working (after inserting a tape I could hear the motor running for a few seconds before it went to standby), so I opened it up to check that the motor belt hadn't slipped, and now when I plug it in, the carriage gets stuck because it tries to swallow a tape.

If I put a tape in place, it swallows it and then goes into standby. If I turn it back on, it ejects the tape and swallowing it again immediately, then goes back to standby, etc.
I also notice that the motor that moves the tape forward or backward is no longer working.

To complete my explanation, the playback head spins and I checked that the gears are not stuck or forcing.
I wonder if the mechanism might be misaligned, and if so, how can I realign it?

I would also like to know if the fact that the motor is no longer working is due to this problem of the constantly swallowed and ejected tape + going into standby.

I hope someone will have an explanation regarding these phenomena and maybe also a solution.
Thanks in advance to everyone who will take an interest in my problem.

I have the same issue with another model.
If you know the answer, could you please send it to me?
Thank you,
Gérard

Hello geepee,
I solved my problem by manually repositioning the mechanism correctly.
During disassembly, and although I was being careful, I accidentally altered the position of a part that serves as an indicator for the mechanism's status. This piece is located under the circuit board and looks like a small wheel with a protruding nipple.
This nipple fits into another small wheel that moves it according to the mechanism's position.

During a second disassembly, I noticed this small piece under the board, so I first manually repositioned the carriage by turning a wheel on the side of the mechanism, then I reassembled the board while checking that the nipple was properly engaged with the other wheel.
And then, a miracle happened; the cassette's in-and-out cycle was good.
Since then, my VCR works normally.
I have no explanation for why it works now. I believe it needed some cleaning, and while taking it apart, I cleaned several rollers and wheels, which probably did it some good.
I hope my response helps you a little bit. Maybe you have the same piece in another form that serves the same function on your device.
Sometimes electronics behave mysteriously. I have so many examples like that where simply disassembling a device and cleaning a bit inside makes it miraculously start working again.
Good luck with your research.
