Connection issue with Opera

Hello,
I recently installed the Opera browser and I can't connect. My Internet Explorer works perfectly, but when I launch Opera an error appears and tells me that it is "impossible to connect to the server," as if I weren't connected to the internet.

I checked my firewall and allowed Opera, I uninstalled and reinstalled it but nothing works. I also tried with Firefox and got the same result. Only IE works. Not wanting to use that crap IE, I've searched all the forums for a solution to my problem but to no avail.

If anyone has a suggestion, don't hesitate.

Thanks in advance to those who will look into my problem.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

Yes. Do you think there is a link with this update? I also uninstalled Norton that came with my PC to replace it with Antivir. But I don't think the problem comes from the antivirus.

yes, there is indeed a mysterious update to IE7 that renders all other browsers inoperable. Incredible, right?
if you can uninstall this update or completely uninstall IE7 (make sure to switch to IE8 to be able to pay taxes online), it has worked for some people.

vanesio, before deleting IE7, download the .exe file of IE8 and save it somewhere on your computer.

To uninstall IE7, generally, it's Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs >> Add/Remove Programs >> On the left menu click on "Add or Remove Windows Components" and uncheck "Internet Explorer"
Or in a more drastic version, in "Add/Remove Programs" remove Internet Explorer!

Otherwise, My Opera is "under construction" right now. To have the French version, you can go to the bottom of the page and choose: Site language: ENGLISH
There is a French-speaking forum on My Opera: https://blogs.opera.com/news/

Do you know how to uninstall the update? I'm not very tech-savvy, especially not with my new Vista. However, I've heard that it's not recommended to completely remove IE. I'll first try version 8. Thanks for the advice.

I haven't updated my IE and I haven't been on Vista for a while, but...
I think you can go to Control Panel and then Programs and Features
(sorry, my Vista is also in English)

and on the left menu, choose "View installed updates," and look for the IE7 update that's causing the problem. Then uninstall it by clicking on the update and then the "Uninstall" button at the top.

Let me know if it works :D

I couldn't disable Internet Explorer as you suggested because in the checkboxes I only found Windows internet protocols and no trace of IE. Not being very keen to uninstall it, I installed version 8 beta 2. And the surprise, nothing works anymore. Neither IE8 nor Mozilla nor Opera. So I did a system restore to before my IE7 update and reinstalled Opera.
My IE is working normally again but not Opera. It shows me the same error message as if I wasn't connected to the internet.
I'm going to rummage around in the control panel to see if I've missed something. If I can't figure it out, too bad, I'll have to settle for IE.
But what's strange is that I had Mozilla working perfectly, and today, apart from IE, nothing else works. Out of curiosity, I even installed Safari but still the same. Same error message. I'm not giving up on finding a solution since I'm quite stubborn.
I'll keep you posted, and thanks a lot for your help. If you happen to have another idea, don't hesitate.

And if it's about the update, do you know if there's a way to cancel it other than by backing up all of Windows? As for Opera, I visited their site to check the forums, but the site is in Spanish and doesn't seem very clear. In any case, thank you for taking an interest in my situation.
