go to the Ares control panel ---> downloads and where it says: "ACCEPT INCOMING CONNECTIONS FROM PORT" there is a number, just delete it after closing Ares, when you open it next time it should connect.

Hi, I also have the same problem. I know quite a bit about routers. I am sure that UDP port 32285 is open. I have used other ports without success. I freed up ports in Windows Firewall; I allowed ARES; I finally closed the firewall.
I have no more ideas. I just installed Ares for the first time. I already have two instances of Emule and one Soulseek (sometimes 4 Emules and 2 Soulseek).
I have FREE as my provider. I did a hard reboot, etc. And I tried playing with the proxies… it doesn't give anything.

Hello, for me Ares works but I can't find everything I'm looking for, and from my experience, Ares works on certain connections and is much weaker on others. As a side note, when I still had the phone connection, Ares worked perfectly; I found all the files, even the very rare ones, and the download was slow but sure! For those who are having connection problems with Ares (meaning it stays "connecting" and not "online"), try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. After 4 or 5 minutes, if it doesn't connect, close it and restart it 4 or 5 times if needed, but in the end make sure it will connect.

The solution .ares works very well without any issues with the default administrator account (i.e., the account named Administrator). So open the default administrator account; it is hidden when you create an administrator account under another name. To open it: At Windows startup, i.e., when the Windows screen appears, click on Ctrl+Alt+Del; a small window will open. Now you need to specify the account to open and its password, then click OK (before doing this, set a password for the account named Administrator in Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >>> User Accounts). Once this hidden account is open, install ares and start using it when it shows online. Enjoy!

Hi, I had the same problems as you with Ares:  Remove Ares from your list of programs starting with Windows and do not start it after opening Windows for now. If you have Utorrent, I advise you to remove it from the list of programs that start with Windows or to close it completely, and do not open it again because I was using Ares and LimeWire at the same time and every time I opened Utorrent it blocked the others, so I uninstalled it and then removed LimeWire from the list of programs starting with Windows. Then I connect to my connection (which does not have a low speed...), I open Ares, I wait a bit, and Pfff it starts magically like that.
