Locked excel file

Solved

Hello,

I have certain Excel files on my company's network that, when I open them, give me a message (example):

"This file is currently in use by john.doe, open in read-only mode?"

Nothing too incredible here, except that the john.doe in question is not the one on the Excel file but rather another user (e.g., darth.vador) who is on it. I've checked, and no one in the company is logged into the network with the john.doe login at that moment.
This means that when a user opens an Excel file locked by another user, the name of the user locking the file returned by the system is not the correct one!!!

Has this ever happened to anyone? Is it an Active Directory issue? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

PS: The names are purely fictional for confidentiality reasons.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

Rapace, did you find the solution "even if the topic is a bit old" because I have the same problem in my company?

Hello,

Sometimes there are locks that do not unlock, it's an issue to discuss with the network administrators.

Hello, actually the file unlocks “for example, we are 4 working on a file” if A opens the file, they can modify it. Then if B opens the file “the file is locked (normal) but locked by C and so on, once the file is opened by A, B, or D… it is locked for other users “normal” but as C.
