I'm looking for the lyrics to a song that might be titled "We Were Seven." I know the beginning, which goes:
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
there was Landouillard, there was me
there was Berlurond, Cassoulette,
there was also Jean La Tripette
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

it's never too late....
I heard this song when I was a child during weddings and family gatherings. My grandfather and my great-uncle sang it. One day I asked my grandmother to write down the lyrics so that they wouldn't fall into oblivion. She did it along with my great-uncle; they have all passed away for about thirty years now, but the song is still here:
We were seven
1
We were really bored in the neighborhood
Seeing the sun shining
We said to each other as friends
We should go out for a stroll
I should tell you that there was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven

2
We left the barracks right away
We walked without saying a word
When I noticed a little cutie
Who was really well made, by gosh
I would have liked to say a couple of particular words to her but
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven

3
As the soldier is very gallant
I approached her for a moment
And I said to the particular one
Would you like to accept a drink?

She accepted without much coaxing, but instead of one drink, I ended up paying for eight
Since...There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven

4
She was good with the bourgeois
And not wanting to make a choice
So as not to be impolite
She gave her address to all of us
Ah that was quite handy because to go see her
We each had our day since
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven

5
But then after a while
We ran into some trouble
The little one with a fierce look
Told me she was going to have a kid
There was no more question of going to see her
And yet we each had our day of the week since
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven
6
But then wouldn't you know it, a few months later
Being on guard, what do I see
The little cutie, for the love of a cartridge
Who was heading towards the barracks
She had a little kid in a diaper, she shoved him into my arms saying
You're his dad! Meanwhile the others laughed and made fun of me, as if the father shouldn't have been drawn by lot, since
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven
7
When our colonel found out,
He said to me, my boy
You will recognize this child's mother
That's how I became a family man
And yet: There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven
8
What's most bothersome is being the dad of a little kid
When we were seven soldiers since
There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was Landouillard, there was me
There was Berluron Cassoulette,
There was also Jean d'la Tripette, we were seven.

Hi
The only (serious?) lead I've found is ---> here
It seems to be a military song
See you later

My grandmother used to sing me this verse. It was while looking for the lyrics today that I came across your message.
In my opinion, before "There was also Jean la Tripette," there was "Finally... we were seven."
A big thank you for this piece of childhood rediscovered.

Hello everyone,
even though these posts are starting to get a bit old, I think I have a nice little surprise for all of you. Check it out on YouTube:

Since this charming gentleman is none other than my father-in-law and he still has plenty of old songs in his head that we have trouble tracing the origins of (which is why we met on this site), we might not stop here?!...

Have a good day
everyone

I often heard my father (born in 1892) singing this song, which probably comes from the trenches of 14-18.
Unfortunately, I don't know any more lyrics than the enumeration of names.
Perhaps there were never any others?...

Thank you for this information. My grandfather used to sing this song, but we were missing 2 of the characters...
Indeed, he ended with "we were seven."
He sang "Michu" and not "Michaud".... a nuance of little importance!

My father often tells me that this phrase was told to him by his grandfather... and so he had my sister and me learn it... and we, in turn, taught it to our children!!!
If it's a song, I'm curious to know if it had several verses and, most importantly, what tune it had?

I had a somewhat different version:

There was Michaud, there was Langlois,
There was the Andouilard and there was me,
There was Dupond, there was Dubois, not forgetting Jean la Tripette, we were 7
