Hello,
I bought a VAIO VGN-FZ21S laptop about 7 or 8 months ago. I was very happy with it until about two months ago when I encountered a problem where my laptop would no longer start. I then sent it for repair and received it a few days later with a new motherboard. So far, nothing too serious as the after-sales service is indeed excellent.
However, about two weeks later, I encountered another problem. I thought it was the screen because this issue did not disappear after restoring the system and then doing a complete reformat of the computer. So I sent it back once more. This time it took a little longer, and when they returned it to me, it came with the note 'unrepaired.' Apparently, my computer had nothing wrong with it; they hadn't done anything, and yet the problem had disappeared. Everything worked perfectly until now, but for the past week, the problem has returned. Well, I'm doing an antivirus scan with Avast, looking for malware with Ad-Aware and Spybot, nothing. The VAIO hardware diagnostic finds nothing. I have once again reformatted everything to return to the original configuration, but it doesn’t change anything; the problem is still there.
I hope someone can help me because I am really frustrated. I don't know what to do. I need this laptop for my studies, and I don't have any other computers; it's the only one I have. So I really don't want to send it back to the after-sales service again, especially if it’s once more for them to tell me that there is nothing wrong and that the problem starts again two months later.
Well, I will try to describe my problem, but I emphasize that I am not really a specialist.
My screen is covered with clouds of tiny pink dots that look like clouds. The problem is not permanent. Sometimes it is not present at all, and when it is (meaning most of the time), the intensity of the problem varies greatly. One detail that may be important (I don’t know) is that I took screenshots to show what it looks like, but when I looked at them when the problem was not present, I realized that my screenshots were normal; they do not show the problem. These clouds appear right from start-up, even before Windows starts, the VAIO logo is affected by this problem, but it's discreet because these dots do not appear on a white or black background. These tiny dots flicker very quickly (from a distance, they seem fixed, up close you can see they are actually flickering) in place on the still images, but they are different from one image to another. In videos, the clouds of dots are in constant motion. I don’t know if this is helpful, but the problem is also present in safe mode.
On some images or videos, the pink dots are accompanied by small clouds of turquoise dots that are much more discreet. These pink dots are present most of the time, but they can appear or disappear, depending. One last thing, the dots are also present during reinstallation after formatting.
I don’t know what to do anymore. I hope someone can help me. I thank that person in advance.
I took pictures of my screen to give you a little idea. I don't know if I can post them. I will try.
My configuration:
VAIO VGN-FZ21S
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20 GHz
2 GB DDR2
NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GS
Windows Vista Home Premium

Hello
could you try booting in safe mode?
https://www.malekal.com/demarrer-windows-mode-sans-echec/
some explanations about safe mode
what could it be with those photos
a setting for your graphics card?
did you go into the device manager????
you scanned with avast, that's good. hum hum avast is specialized for that.....
lots of viruses and avast doesn't react but too late or never/antivir is to be preferred
but why would you have viruses? do you use p2p????
another method if you don't have viruses
https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=29
look, you'll understand, you have to accept an activX control
I think we need to look at the graphics card
or a problem with your pc///WARRANTY
P2P P2P P2P ??????

Hi Gizzmo,
Yes, as I mentioned in my message, I tried in safe mode but it doesn't change anything, the problem is the same.
Device Manager tells me that my graphics card is working perfectly and NVIDIA's site says the driver is the most recent available. Furthermore, I have the VAIO update program that directly offers to install new drivers when they are available, so I think they are up to date. I will still try the touslesdrivers site. I have nothing to lose by trying.
Otherwise, I didn't know about Avast. I will install Antivir if it's better, but I don't use P2P anyway. Well, I don't know much, but normally when I format my PC, I delete everything including any potential viruses, right? So I doubt that's the issue since resetting to the initial state doesn't fix the problem.
I will try the touslesdrivers site and I will come back to say if it has fixed my problem.
Thanks. -
REMOVE viruses
not always, some infections are well made currently.
check your graphics card settings/it looks like it's saturating in red??
maybe your graphics card needs checking? have you already checked if it's properly inserted?/be careful about the
warranty if you open it.....!
FOR AVAST
http://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/sujet 8172 uninstall avast properly
http://site-naheulbeuk.com/
antivirus tutorial/this antivirus can be downloaded here at the top of the page DOWNLOAD
https://www.malekal.com/tutoriel-hijackthis/
as a last resort, post a report in a new message
on the theme VIRUS SECURITY on ccm. not here
and your warranty???
search on google: pink spots on screen/spots on screen

Hi,
yes, my phone is still under warranty so I'm definitely not going to open it. Plus, I had the same problem two months ago and VAIO sent it back to me with the label unrepaired and yet it was working perfectly again. So I'm a bit fed up. That would be three repairs in less than three months for a computer that's not even a year old. Let's not go overboard. That's why I'm trying to find a solution.
On the site touslesdrivers: all my drivers were up to date except for the WIFI one (I gained one bar in reception, that's something).
Antivirus found nothing.
I don't even know if it's worth doing the HijackThis thing. I don't use P2P and there's very little chance it’s a virus, right?
I think I'm slowly heading towards customer service anyway. I'm fed up, it's really not worth buying a VAIO.
If you or anyone else has another idea, feel free to share.
Thank you. -
Hello, I have the same problem as you but with an Asus.
Did you solve your problem?
Thank you
