Hello,
I used to be like some people, I couldn't connect to the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi.
But now, I know how to do it:
- Buy a wireless router
- Have a game compatible with Wi-Fi
- Have high-speed internet
Now connect to the Wi-Fi:
- Go to "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings"
- Go to connection 1, 2, or 3
- Search for an access point
- My access point shows an unlocked blue icon:
You do not need a WEP key

- My access point shows a locked red icon:
You must enter the WEP key: It is below the internet modem (Write it without spaces or uppercase letters)

- My access point shows a locked gray icon:
The Nintendo DS has determined that it does not support the security settings of your router. To connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you must switch to WEP security or remove the security setting from your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS.

- Perform the connection test

And now you can play online!

Hello everyone if your modem has Wi-Fi, there is no need to buy a router (unless it also has Wi-Fi). Otherwise, there is a Wi-Fi dongle that you can plug into the USB port of your PC, which has an internet connection. It costs about 20 euros. Happy gaming to all!

Hello everyone, desperate to play on their DS via Wi-Fi. I have the same issue (Sagem AliceBox); when it's not error 51300, another one appears even when removing the WEP key, nothing works. In all the forums, it's always the same, people don't know what to suggest anymore, while I tried at friends' places who have Neuf and it worked right away. Gizmo, I'm replying to you from my DS that I got yesterday, and it's working perfectly for me.
I believe your problem comes from your router: it's not opening its ports to your DS. To fix this, you need to enter your DS's MAC address into it, but I don't know how to do that with an Alice box.

make sure you have WEP security (and NOT WPA) on your access point. Indeed, the DS does not support WPA security.

We have the same problem with my cousin because we have 3 DS (2 of mine ^^) and when we want to connect on Beup Live (MSN on DS with R4) and on MSN Mobile, it disconnects one of us. For the DS's IP, it's better to use your gateway's DNS server (to get one automatically) it will avoid IP address conflicts. Then, Beup! has never been considered to be perfectly operational... In my opinion, that's where the issue lies.  Have you tried to play Mario Kart online with your 2 (or 3) consoles? -- The spoon doesn't exist!

I've had the DS for quite a while, but I only recently found out that you can connect via Wi-Fi.

I know all the settings that need to be configured, but at the end, when I do the "connection test," the green light turns red, and on the bottom screen, I see error 51300, and sometimes 51301.

If someone knows why this happens, could they please reply?

After several days of adjustment research, I opened my router, removed the WEP, it didn't work, the device found the network and during the test the network dropped, so I changed the Wi-Fi channel from 1 to 5 while trying and stopped at 5 because it worked.

to please my wife who would like to enjoy Animal Crossing online, I bought the Wifimax from Bigben.
1) Install the CD by following the instructions in the manual
2) I plug the Wifimax USB key into the computer
3) I turn on the game, go into WiFi settings, create a configuration
4) I click on connect to the Nintendo USB WiFi connector (the big blue rectangular button at the bottom)
5) nothing, nada.
6) I click on connection 1 to set it up myself
7) I click on search for an access point... cool, it recognizes the Wifimax key! I confirm
8) ah, less cool, it sees the key, but the padlock is open :(
9) I select it, and I click on connection test ... it works !!!!!!

except that it's not secured, in the manual they say to use the software installed at the beginning (step 1)
to go to the security tab, it’s on open, set it to wpa-psk and then enter a code of 8 to 32 characters, and reproduce this code in the DS, in the WEP key line...

I’m stuck. No matter how many times I enter the same code in the computer software (and apply it) and in the DS, nothing works. It connects without a password, in "open", but doesn't work with a password...

Unfortunately, no matter how many methods I try from the internet, I can't manage to do it.

I have a Livebox from Orange.
Firstly, when I search for the Wi-Fi connection automatically with my DS, it finds "no access point." So I enter the necessary information for the connection manually: the WEP key / the SSID, but I leave "YES" for "Automatic IP address acquisition" (the same for the DNS).
When I do a "connection test," after a few seconds, it displays: "Error 51099: Unable to find a compatible access point...."
Does anyone know the solution to my problem?

Good evening, I just got a DS Lite to borrow with the game Animal Crossing, I know it's playable online but when I try to set up the Wi-Fi it doesn't find any access points even though I'm right next to my Livebox, and in my street there are 3 of us who have a Livebox, I can see the other 2 from my house but with the DS nothing at all! I have a big big problem with my DS and my Livebox explanation:  I have a DS just like the others... and a Sagem Pro Livebox (so it's black) and I'm trying to connect via Wi-Fi to play in the world!! but... impossible, why... NO!!
WPA keys are not the only ones responsible!

My livebox was on WEP, very basic... IMPOSSIBLE to connect.
I even tried connecting without any protection.
It didn't work.

The only thing I didn't do was change the wifi channel. Maybe that could help you.

I finally found the system
Let me explain:
I did like you, the configurations, the Wi-Fi light blinks, and on the DS at first it is green then it turns yellow!!
Indeed, it’s your Livebox that blocks the access.
So I have Orange, I went to the Orange assistance website for Wi-Fi Livebox: http://192.168.1.1/ do not change the username, the password is admin like the username unless you changed it. Then you need to go to Livebox Wi-Fi settings, go to advanced Wi-Fi settings: set the DS to static IP, use the same IP address and gateway in your DSI under advanced settings, knowing that you can set from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.100, check first if this IP is not taken by something else, and keep the rest as no.
Then save your configuration, a test will start, press the Wi-Fi button on your Livebox and launch the test, it should succeed!! There, if that doesn’t work, change the configuration on the DSI and set everything to automatic!!!
There, it worked for me!!! There!!!
