HP C4480 PRINTER ISSUE

Hello,

a friend acquired an HP PHOTOSMART C4480 and mistakenly chose the wrong language (wanted French, confirmed Europe by hitting OK, and now he finds himself with instructions in English!)...

Since then, it's been impossible to change the language as he can't find the menu to adjust the settings.

This choice was made long before connecting the printer to the PC.

How can we find this menu????

We've tried everything (unplugging the printer, removing the cartridges, but nothing works).

Thanks in advance for the good advice.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.3

I have another problem with my printer. I'm using Vista and when I go to scan a document on my printer, I click on "Scan/Print" and then "Scan to PC"
Well, I get a message saying: "Scanning error. Scan from computer or view document."

And I've looked everywhere and I can't find how to scan a document directly from the computer!!!!

      Help me

      Thanks!!!

Otherwise, the photocopying and printing function works very well.

      Hello
I have the same problem, strange because it was working before, the document is digitized on the screen but cannot find the path to be saved as a document (the location shows the date without the document).

    Here is the solution:

1- Press “Cancel” & “Power” simultaneously; A message “enter Special Key combo” will appear on the screen.
2- Press “Scan” (blue), “Color Copy” (green), “Black Copy” (gray) in sequence.
3- The message “service RL00XX” will be displayed.
4- Scroll to “Reset Menu,” and press “OK.”
5- Scroll to “Country/Language Reset” and press “OK.”
6- The printer will turn off, turn it back on by pressing the “Power” button: a prompt will ask you to select the language.

Note: To scroll in the Support Menu, use “Scan” (up) or “Black Copy” (down). To confirm a choice, use “Color Copy” (OK).
Christian Dion: I searched the web but couldn't find the answer, I saw that other people were asking the same question.
Christian Dion: yes, but how to start since my printer is in English, I must have made a mistake.
Firdaousse: use the instructions above to switch it back to French.
    Firdaousse: has it been done?
Christian Dion: I don't have the message RLOOXX but something else.
Firdaousse: scroll with the blue button.
Christian Dion: I couldn't do it, I'll try again because it's still in English.
Firdaousse: okay, first press “Cancel” & “Power” at the same time.
Firdaousse: then press the buttons “Scan” (blue), “Color Copy” (green), “Black Copy” (gray), one after the other.
    Christian Dion: okay, it works.

      Hello Iakkhos,
I have the same problem, I would like to set my HP C4480 printer back to French.
I followed your instructions. After pressing the blue, green, and gray buttons, it shows:
      " Support
      rhLxFN0810CR "
      and not service RL00XX !!
      Could you help me???
Looking forward to your reply, best regards.

    Hello Nifer
Silly question.. : Be careful about the position
the tri-color ink cartridge in the left slot and the black or photo cartridge in the right slot.
please take a look at this:

First of all, let me clarify one thing: I’m not that stupid! I followed the instructions to the letter and it’s really my black cartridge that has a problem or the printer that has a manufacturing defect.
      Thanks anyway for trying.

Far from me the idea of thinking you are stupid, but you never know...
If we eliminate the basic causes, the problem becomes, at least theoretically, simpler...
If the procedure has been properly followed... another stupid question...
Is the cartridge (the black one that seems to be causing the problem) the right model???
For the Photosmart C4480, the black cartridge should be:
For regular printing ==> Black ink cartridge HP 350 ref HP CB335EE
        or
For high volume printing ==> Black ink cartridge HP 350XL ref HP CB336EE

Question about error message or nothing at all, when installing the cartridges????

    Hello
I think that uninstalling and then reinstalling should fix the problem... while respecting two things
    1) do not connect the printer until the procedure asks for it
    2) be careful not to rush to answer the questions during said procedure...
the choice of language can indeed be important... (not for the functioning of the printer but for understanding the messages and menus it uses)...

Thank you for the reply, but when the language choice was entered, it was well before the printer was connected to the PC and installed-

Even before connecting it to the PC, we tried everything by unplugging it, but nothing works - we can't get back to the start menu (which seems to only display once!) HP is tough on beginners!

I'm not sure that uninstalling would do anything, right??

If you don't want to try... you'll never know...
When was the choice of language proposed??? Before the connection or after???
You say yourself it was before, so we have to get back to the original conditions....

I’m not the only one telling you to start over ==> http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 8849200 parametrage imprimante hp photosmart c4400#1

There's no need to send multiple messages if you don’t want to follow the advice...(even if you’re following it anyway)

      Hello Balladur13,
thank you very much, I managed to switch it back to French.
Since you seem to know a lot about this, I have another little issue; when I start a print, it makes a weird noise like tap tap tap tap quickly (not easy without sound!!) at first and then nothing, but the print is perfect.
Do you know where that might come from???
      Thank you for your reply.

        Hi
I don't know the machine, but I would say the heads go through a cleaning cycle

Normally, you should have the option to trigger this process... try it to see if it makes the same noise.

Hello everyone, I also have a problem with my new HP C4480 printer but it doesn't concern the language. My problem is as follows: I can't insert the black cartridge. The color cartridge goes in very well, but when it comes to inserting the black one, either it doesn't "click" in, or it gets rejected and comes out.
        Thank you in advance!
