Alcatel Versatis 630 phone not ringing anymore Solved

Question

Hello,
Can you help me: I have two Alcatel Versatis 630 handsets connected to a common base with a answering machine, but when I receive an external call, there's no ringing to signal it.
However, I can make calls to the outside world and everything works fine in that direction.
I followed the instructions described in the manual but nothing changes.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have a Versatis 830 trio associated with an Alice box, which is 14 months old, and I also no longer have a ringtone after having just one ring. This problem is well known since the technician at Auchan's customer service immediately indicated that the cause was the capacitor marked C35 on the circuit board. I bought this component from an electronics retailer and replaced it (very easy): two solder joints, but be careful, this component is polarized. And for 60 cents, my phone is operational again.

Hello,I also have a problem with this phone, it was working perfectly and for a few days now suddenly there's no ringtone. I see either on my modem "call" or the number displayed on my phone but I can't stay glued to it. I'm with Free for your information. I would like to know if anyone has found a solution. Just so you know, I've tested everything: unplugging, replugging, pairing base/handset, and finally everything possible to test. And nothing... Thank you for your help.

Same problem for me too. Versatis 630 + Sagem Livebox was working well and then suddenly it no longer rings. Yet when receiving a new call, the Livebox witness flashes and the number is displayed on the phone.

The only solution was to add a filter between the phone and the Livebox. But it doesn’t sound great...

If someone has a solution to make this phone work, I'm all ears!!!!

exactly the same issue, for the last 2 hours: Alcatel Versatis 630 phone, been on unbundled service with Neuf for a year now, and for the past 2 hours, no ringtones. The calling number displays on the screen, I can make calls without a problem, but NO ringtones, it’s very annoying for a phone, especially since plugging in an old landline works fine...... if anyone has the solution... thanks

New solution I implemented: 3 filters between the Livebox and the Versatis 630, and I added an old phone to the wall socket on the filter.

For the past two weeks, I haven't had any issues; the rings are complete, and it rings as soon as the LED on the Livebox lights up... I'm crossing my fingers!

I think the Versatis struggles with the signal sent (incomplete or even nonexistent ringing without a filter) by the Livebox, hence my idea to add filters to get the most filtered and understandable signal possible for the Versatis.

If you have any other solutions, I'm always open to suggestions!!!!

Salut, moi j'ai un Versatis 630, je suis en illimité avec la Neuf Box et ça fait deux fois que mon téléphone ne veut plus émettre d'appel et il ne sonne pas non plus quand j'appelle. En fait, en trifouillant dans le menu, j'ai retiré la base et mis sur auto et maintenant ça marche. Alors essayez ça, peut-être que ça marchera aussi pour vous...

Same problem with Alcatel Versatis 630 and Neuf unbundling, no ringing when I was called; however, I tested it with Alicebox and it works very well. So, I changed the phone and it works great. (MOTOROLA ME4251-3 compatible with Neuf's trioD box)

Thank you very much to peter44 for the tip, I had the same problem with the Versatis 830 Voice Duo, I bought a capacitor and changed the C35 -- with amateurish soldering not very skillful -- and it works again! For 25 cents (found in a store at Place de la Nation in Paris), it's cheaper than buying a device with two handsets...

I was surprised that the original capacitor didn't seem "exploded"/"burned" (the electronics store seller was doubtful because I showed him the device to make sure I was getting the right capacitor), but it must be a component of questionable quality...

Hi, the capacitor C35 is the black capacitor with a value of 100 microfarads 10V (low filtering, which would explain the cause of the failures) next to the shielding, near the 4 rectifier diodes on the top left.
You can take a 100 micro capacitor with a voltage higher than 10V, the filtering will be better...

For your information, capacitors are components that eventually "dry out," which will create poor filtering, hence the failures. Transistors, "leaky" diodes, "broken" resistors, and integrated circuits are often the cause of failures. The issue with this capacitor C35 may be due to poor design from Alcatel, and on top of that, they lowered its voltage rating, which is also synonymous with low cost. Luckily, these are not BGAs that fail quickly! Have a good weekend.

SUPER! With the replacement capacitor, the phone works again (capacitor 100 micro Farad 16Volt)  I didn't pay attention during assembly because it is much larger than the original and once soldered on the front side (see photo of the board with the capacitor facing up  https://www.cjoint.com/?dqqmu0ORvp impossible to close the box! I had the same problem, my Alcatel messed up. You take the phone to where you bought it, and they will send it for repair for a month. Even if it's out of warranty, they will still fix it, so good luck. See you!

Hello Langocha,

All the answers to your problem can be found in this forum, but it is true that I also searched a lot.
In the case of the V630, according to the information from this forum, the capacitor is designated C35 (not C44, which is the designation for the V830).
This capacitor is located in the base.
Its value is: 100 µF, 10 Volts minimum, but if you find 100 µF, 16 volts, that's certainly better.
I am attaching the link I found on this forum that shows exactly where this component is located:

This link should be entered directly in the "address" of Internet Explorer; you should retrieve the photo of the base card with the C35 capacitor highlighted in red.

You just need to replace this capacitor with a new one (or a refurbished one reputed to be in good condition, like from another landline phone, which I did).

Be careful: this type of capacitor is polarized (one leg “+” and one leg “-”); so you must respect this polarity when replacing it.

I had the same issue with my Versatis Duo phone and I searched everywhere for the source of the problem. It was really frustrating to know that no one could reach us on my landline. Eventually, I first changed my rechargeable batteries (costing 18 euros for four, good quality) that had been in the phone since I purchased it. Then I thought of one thing: to move the metal contacts on the side of the ADSL connection found on the wall phone jack. This post helped me a lot. I managed to repair my Versatis 630 by finding a capacitor from an old base that I had kept. See, it’s not foolish to hold on to old devices. I replaced capacitor C35 with an identical one. The only difference is the voltage: 16 instead of 10. I think it will be more durable.

Hello everyone, same problem with a Versatis 830 Trio on Livebox. Equipment from September 2008, it no longer rings. I carefully read all your responses, but for a quick fix, I chose to put two filters on the phone socket of the Livebox. It's wonderful how nice it is to hear this equipment functioning properly again. As for the capacitor replacement, I'm not sure if I can do it. Thank you for your messages.

I had the same problem described here, with Versatis 630 and I changed the capacitor C35 as indicated in the replies. A friend sent me a 250 microFarad 25 Volts (I don't have a shop here and he did what he could) and since this morning, it's working. I had the same issue with no ringtone on the 630, but I had a muted sound icon that I couldn't unlock. Eventually, you access the Menu button, scroll to Base, Default, and there the phone asks for a code. You just need to enter 0000 and the default settings are reset. As a result, my phone rings perfectly again, but the directory (which I keep empty) is also reset. I hope this is useful to you.
