Hello everyone,
I had fun reading all your posts; it’s true that we are in the 21st century, and the computer, camera, and other electronic product buyer is very demanding; what demands we have these days... yet, if they only knew... If they only knew, for example, that a film reflex from the past, with a standard 50mm lens, easily weighed between 800g and 1.2kg - we are far from the average 400g of a modern digital camera. As for consumer PCs, 30 years ago, in the '80s, the RAM rarely reached 512MB, and we were happy with a 20MB hard drive; obviously, the systems weren't too memory-hungry. 50 years ago, in the '60s, the RAM of professional computers (not yet public PCs) barely reached 20 kilobytes; you needed a space equivalent to 2 HLM apartments to store all the machines; the central unit alone occupied the space of a 25 m² living room, memory storage was done on magnetic tapes or disks (8 stacked disks with a diameter of +/- 60 cm); then it was audio cassettes for backup, then floppy disks, then disks, then CDs, and so on until now.
For my part, I treated myself to a PB LJ65, 4GB of RAM, 1/2TB HD, 17.3" LED screen, Windows 7; the important thing before buying is to know what you’re going to do with your PC, whether portable or not. If it’s for chatting, you might as well get a small 10.1", 1GB RAM, 160GB HD. For my part, I was looking for at least 3GB of RAM for photo editing almost exclusively; I installed Rarmaradio, and I listen - depending on my mood (and sometimes I record) to tracks from one or another of the 6000 available stations. I’ve read and re-read the little explanatory booklet that came with the device (nowadays, people read less and less - if not not at all - the user manuals; I know this because one or the other friend occasionally calls me for setup or unlocking their machine, or like Llolilals, how to change the functionality of the "P" touch button). From my PB LJ65, so far, I am thrilled; it has already run non-stop for 48 hours without overheating; for photo editing, I find it super fast - it’s a change from the BMX under XP that I had before.
You should know that there are less than ten chip manufacturers on the planet, and electronic circuits mostly come from Asian countries. The electronics of Epson, Mazda, and Olympus are supplied by Seiko.
So, saying that one laptop is worse than another is very relative. I have a friend who got a Medion, sold at Aldi, 6 years ago, and it has never broken down.
Have a great day everyone!

We'll talk about it when your motherboard has failed or when you've fought with the brand's poor customer service.

(What's the point of asking for advice if you're not going to listen to anything?)

no, the graphics card isn't worth anything in games. and Packard Bell is not a good brand at all.

I recommend the HP dv7 (a bit more expensive though) or the Dell studio 17.

To the response on October 10th, I can accept that the graphics card of the Packard Bell SL65 is not designed for 3D gaming like that of the HP DV7 1035, but to say that the brand itself is worthless is something else entirely. So the question is: Why is this brand considered worthless?
Thank you
See you

What I say about Packard Bell has nothing to do with the configuration. It's simply that this brand makes very mediocre quality PCs, many of which end up malfunctioning. And the customer service is catastrophic.

Thank you for the quick response, but I still don't know more about why they are breaking down. The components are also those that can be found in other brands.
Thank you

the motherboard, the power supply, the cooling system, etc. are designed by Packard Bell and it's this kind of thing that causes problems.

The information is available online, there are tons of issues as well, I don't have the time to explain in detail why Packard Bell is a brand to avoid, what you would say any knowledgeable person would tell you.

Thank you for this information. Now, on the internet, there are mixed reviews about PB. Generally, those who are happy don’t leave comments.
For your information, I've had an HP for 5 years without a single problem, and the reviews for that are also quite negative. SO.....
See you!

In over 2,000 messages from schwarser, at least 1,500 say that you should not use Packard Bell because it is crap... Excuse the vulgar word...
It seems that this gentleman has problems with this brand, I don't know what they are...

In doubt, should we trust him?

Have a good evening.

Well, good advice gets repeated... like here for example, but also on many forums. I don't know what planet you're living on not to realize it. Open your field of vision and see what’s happening around you. I am far from being the only one advising against this brand.

I've had this computer for 6 weeks and no problems
it’s exactly what I was looking for
it doesn’t lag, I do everything on it and I have a lot of space on my hard drive

regarding the graphics card, I can say that I’m currently playing the game Prey on my PC without any issues and that’s already quite good for a portable computer
I haven't tried any more demanding games yet

the only problem is the battery life
about 2 hours is short

and the screen is 17 inches
it’s nice but for that reason, you have to put the word portable in quotes
if it's to carry it around every day on the subway and such, it's not worth it, it will be too bulky
if it's to transport it at home from one room to another with the power adapter on hand or for a rare trip, it’s very good

Hello,
you have to be careful about what is said on the internet. You should also know that there are people employed by Dell who monitor the web and promote Dell products with the argument that Dell has great customer service, etc. while Dell actually has disastrous customer service and their PCs are not reliable, proof being provided. As for Packard Bell, I just bought one, the RS 65 13-inch.. what can I say.. it looks nice, has good specs .. it heats up a bit .. makes a bit of noise.. but for me it doesn't suit me at all because of the keyboard!! it's a flat keyboard that I can't get used to (and also it weighs 2.4, 400 grams more is noticeable and not too much for an ultra-portable.. the big downside for me is therefore the keyboard which is the same across all Packard Bell products meaning flat.. it’s a keyboard that seems very cheap.. it makes noise, and especially very uncomfortable (maybe for others it works for them, you have to like flat keyboards with no key borders).. I also find the keys too big.. then especially the noise of typing.
As for quality, I can't say since I've never had a Packard Bell. But I think it's not more catastrophic than the others.. I think it’s made to last 2, 3 years.. Also worth noting is that even brands like Sony and Asus have issues with their laptops, returned within the first few days due to malfunctions and even shortly after, others are surprised to face major problems.. so between a laptop costing 500 euros and one costing 1000 euros, I think in both cases you won’t be free from problems (not to mention that if you break it yourself, you lose 1000).. in short, for me the reasoning is a laptop not too expensive, 500 - 699 euros beyond that it’s not worth it .. Moreover, if it breaks after a year, you’re less disappointed because you knew it (now nothing says it won’t last easily 3, 4, 5 years or more!!..
Moreover, I would recommend getting a not too expensive laptop as you can change it next year and buy another one with Windows 7 .. so to finish with Packard Bell.. I don’t know too much, for me it's the keyboard that isn't great, and a bit the noise and weight.... worth noting that many posts are misleading about Packard Bell.. their number is not premium rate!! ( it's a free 09 number ..) also worth mentioning is that their customer service responds well contrary to what some would like to believe (in general, it’s people from Dell writing lies..
I would say, however, don’t take a Dell.. I tested their sales and customer service.. really unpleasant!! for them it’s money money sales sales point blank! also worth noting is that their products are faulty (like the XPS 1330 which has a faulty graphics card but Dell still includes in its configs..
Now you can try for yourself a Packard Bell (if you like their keyboard!! otherwise, good luck like me with their keyboard ..

Hello big chief, welcome to the world of the Packard Bell hassle.

Packard Bell, a really nice computer but nothing else except the hassle. I have a PC from this brand that I want to throw away so much that I am disgusted because it does not suit me at all.

My problem the first time is that it started crashing, then once that was fixed I have a new problem with my webcam.

Here is the Packard Bell equation

Packard Bell = faulty webcam, very awkward keyboard, too much noise, and battery that overheats a lot.

So please, I don’t know you at all, but don’t throw your money into this brand in any way, go look elsewhere.

If you still want to stick with your choice, welcome to the hassle club.

Sorry for the mistakes because I don’t understand French very well, I’m German...

Packard Bell EasyNote SL65, what is it worth?
exactly the PC I bought, previously I had an Acer... the Packard is a good, reliable, powerful PC
I use it for gaming, music, and video
no regrets, I would make the same choice without hesitation.

my PB tj 66 is great, I don't understand this demolition of the reputation. On Windows 7, it's smooth as oil, I love it, before I was using an Acer,...

Hello,
Little expert opinion.
Firstly, Packard Bell computers are great for everyday users. The types of people who surf the web, go on MSN, listen to iTunes, and watch movies... very good. The catch is that people see when they buy a game usually sold with it!!!! So they think it's a beast of a machine and then the PC overheats!!! Why? Because they don't read the manual and don't differentiate between three types of PCs.
- Office machines (dad, mom, little brother...)
- Multimedia (photo editing, video editing, professional Photoshop, Blender 3D (since it's not very resource-heavy), Illustrator...
- And gamers (games, 3D Max, Maya,...)
In the case of Packard Bell, I classify the Easy Note in the first category despite having RAM, graphics cards^^ ....
Secondly, one silly thing to consider is the OS (Operating System). If it’s XP, it can be optimized to about 512 MB on the hard drive (that’s how much space it takes in my tower after optimization, of course) and it uses little memory when optimized without effects, allowing me to recover some RAM here and there. But if you have VISTA, CAUTION!!!!! It's very hard to optimize!!!!! And by default, you should assume it will take up between 1/4 and 1/3 of RAM and a significant amount of space on the hard drive even without effects.... (I know, long live Apple, dark and powerful)
Lastly, the PC will last as long as you treat it well, don’t put a laptop on your bed where it blocks the air vents, and respect its capabilities, like you don’t install Vista on a machine meant for Windows 95 (pushing it to the extreme, but that's it ^^).
There you go, personally, I have two PCs: a tower with XP Pro, 512 MB RAM, Pentium 1, and I’ve been doing 3D with it for 5 years and it has never overheated, lagged, or slowed down... but I made the choice for it to serve only that purpose and the other is an Easy Note for everyday use.

Before asking a question.... Have I done the necessary research?

Hello,
I have the phone in question from the first post. I get quite a laugh reading some posts.
I confirm the keyboard is very noisy.
The battery doesn’t heat up at all.
The video card isn’t meant for crazy gaming. I only do office work, so adding a minimum of €10 for a decent Nvidia doesn’t interest me.

In short, if you want a super processor for €650, it’s a good choice. If you want an Asus at the same price, you’ll need to buy a processor that is at least 2 years old... or spend at least €1000.

A €350 difference is not negligible for everyone.

I just bought a P.BELL EASYNOTE MH 070R
15.4 inches is quite sufficient compared to a 17
overall I spent an afternoon comparing technical specifications and this one has a very good quality-price ratio
(less than 500 €) ...
Except that for multimedia use, the sound from the speakers is mediocre.

I have a Packard Bell Easy Note that I've had for...7 years and I've never had any issues with it. I recommend this brand to anyone who needs a computer for everyday use like office work. It can be a bit noisy, that's the only point I would criticize.

Good evening,
I have a big problem with my Packard Bell Easy Note laptop, it's a year old; after a power outage, when I tried to turn my computer back on, there was: the PB logo, then Microsoft with yellow bars scrolling, then: Windows did not shut down properly... choose the boot mode, I tried all 4 options, then a gray screen with a cursor (arrow) that you can move around and that's it... nothing more;
I was advised to press F11 but that doesn't work, what should I do????
I called PB but of course the recovery CDs are charged!!! Help!! Who can assist me???

I also have an SL65 (Core 2 Duo P7350, 3GB of RAM, etc...) and I don't regret it, but I wouldn't recommend it for nomads (it's quite heavy and battery-hungry). Otherwise, it's all good; the graphics card is weak but for the price, I preferred to get a more powerful processor (most in this range are T3200 or even lower).
The most surprising thing is that this PC almost never lags, no matter what we do (maybe because it's Centrino...)

As for durability over time, we'll see, but in 4 months, no issues.

Its main flaws are the keyboard, but you quickly get used to it (it seems a bit low-end), and the touchpad is also a bit annoying at first and a bit small, but after a few hours, I wouldn't change it for anything!!!

In summary, despite a few details, for the price I paid, I haven't found better, and I do everything on my PC without any problem (except maybe for gaming).

Hello everyone,
I just want to comment on the various opinions about the Packard Bell brand. Personally, I bought one over 4 years ago for €400, and it's been a dream!!! It has fallen more than 20 times, stayed on the bed for hours, traveled around the world 10 times and it still works perfectly (except for the battery, which has been dead for years). It’s starting to get a bit old, but it's still perfect for the internet, office work, etc. When I compare it to my friends who have HPs, Sonys that cost a fortune and stop working after just a few days, I have only one piece of advice: Buy an old Packard Bell!

P.S.: Contrary to what one might think, I do not work for Packard Bell!

I'm in agreement, I bought the same computer as you, the Easynote SL65. Well, it may not be worth the 800 €, but I think it's great. It's spent hours on the bed or under my blankets with the fan blocked. I made it take water "or snow to be more precise". I can tell you that it's probably true, there are ideas circulating about Packard Bell, but they're not true. Once it even ran for a month without taking a break, and there are many other great stories, but you shouldn't be afraid to buy a Packard Bell computer. The only downside "for this computer" is that it says it has Bluetooth connectivity, but it doesn't necessarily work right away; you just need to download the drivers yourself, but that works.

N.B: For the price, try a price comparison website; you can easily find one on Google.

Hello,
I bought a Packard Bell EasyNote ML 65 a year ago. My battery barely lasts at all: 30 minutes, the laptop overheats a lot (the keyboard is almost burning).
Is there any other solution besides changing the battery and the fan?
I really don't know anything about PCs and I would be too afraid to dismantle it.

If someone could give me their opinion...

Thank you :)

PS: I really love the keyboard and the pad, no problem there. The only downside: the weight is just way too heavy.

Hello, I bought this laptop but the model below it is €600, and I would like to know how to modify the touch key (red) to change the ""P"" key, which is programmable, to set up a shortcut. I had a shortcut to a web page but I want to change it to something else. If someone knows, feel free to share.
PS: Sorry if I'm veering a bit off topic^^

Yes, you just need to search for "launch manager" in your programs to change the key ;)

Hi everyone, for my part, this is the second PB Easynote I've had and I'm really happy with it. Everyone is free to think what they want, the main thing is to find what you need in a computer before buying it; but to denigrate PB like that, it's time to stop. On that note, good luck, I continue with my laptop from PB.

Hello,

I have a Packard Bell TJ65-DT096FR with an NVIDIA 240M CUDA 1GB graphics card, Intel T6600
perfect for office work, in terms of photography: I don't use software like Photoshop, so..., games: Prince of Persia (the latest one) runs well, Call of Duty World at War too (with some adjustments in the graphics menu), well, saying that a game runs well is subjective... but for me, they are playable
so I recommend this laptop (I take it to work every day) which for the price is just right, however, I’ll see how long it lasts...

Hello everyone, there's a lot of criticism about Packard Bell. I bought the Easynote two years ago and I've never had any problems until now. On the other hand, just before that, I bought a custom-built Dell, which cost a ridiculous amount at the time, 1300 euros, and I can say it didn't last long. After six months, I had nothing but problems, and their customer service is really disappointing at Dell. 1300 euros versus 600 at Packard, there’s no comparison, much cheaper and of much better quality, and yet the graphics card is not as good as on the Dell but still superior overall. I recommend this brand to everyone, but whether it's Dell, Sony, Packard, or another brand, you’re never safe from a problem or a manufacturing defect. For me, they’re all the same, there are good and bad laptops in every brand. Just like with TVs, for example, I bought an LG plasma for 2400 euros, and after three years, the images were fixed and burned onto the screen, colors faded, and so on. Then I bought a Samsung LCD for 595 euros, which is clearly superior in every way and I’ve never had any problems with it. It's clear that you’re not safe from anything with any brand. So, when it comes to opinions on any brand, it’s better to look around at your acquaintances for comparisons rather than relying on opinions online where nothing is objective. There you go, to each their own...

Hello,

I have a Packard Bell 17.3 inches and there are positive and negative aspects.

Positive aspects: The keyboard is great, the sound, the keyboard shortcuts, and the performance

Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz - 5.0

RAM - 3.00 GB - 5.8

Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 - 5.7

Gaming graphics - 1791 MB total video memory available - 5.2

Main hard drive - 242GB free (286GB total) - 5.4

Negative aspects: The computer is way too heavy, the screen resolution is quite small, the PC overheats a lot (I play Need for Speed Underground 2, and after barely 10 minutes it's already burning hot), and the fan is too loud.

In short, this brand is very average for its price (€899), I recommend TOSHIBA or ALIENWARE, and based on user reviews, this brand should be avoided.

That's it, see you later ^^

You're the only one that's heating up... Mine doesn't heat up, it has never turned off due to overheating even after several days of use... You need to make sure the ventilation is clear!

Hi

I would say that you must be one of the few for whom their Packard-(pou)Bell is not a warming plate or rather hands...

Packard-(pou)Bell is THE brand of laptops to avoid at all costs, their desktop PCs are not better by the way.
