bidirectional communication printer?

Hello,
I have a laptop. I wanted to connect the Lexmark Z1420 printer.
I have a little problem. It asks me to "enable bidirectional communication."
I went to the control panel, printer, properties.
I clicked on the "ports" tab, for my printer's port, I clicked "enable bidirectional mode management."
I admit that I am completely lost.
Who can help me please, I don't know if I'm on the right track and if I'm doing it correctly.

I just installed Win 7 Home Premium and I have the same issue. Simply, I don't have the "Port" tab in the printer properties and I can't find where to go in the BIOS to fix this issue. HELP I HAVE ALL MY NOTES TO PRINT BEFORE MY EXAMS!!!

Hello,

Actually, you need to go into your machine's BIOS (or machine setup) and enable bidirectional mode for the print ports.

To enter the BIOS, depending on the machines, at the very beginning of your machine's startup you should see "Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup", for example.

Be careful to only modify the elements that interest you because you might encounter issues in case of a bad manipulation.

Have you right-clicked on 'Printer Properties'?? Because if you right-click on 'Properties,' it's not correct.

You need to right-click on 'Printer Properties,' then 'Port'

From there, you have two options; if the 'Enable bidirectional communication' box is grayed out, you need to share your printer with other users on your computer and you will be able to perform the manipulation.

Otherwise, you can check the box directly.

Personally, I had this problem, and the first solution worked for me, and it worked.

Good evening, I had the same problem except that when I checked the box "Enable bidirectional communication" it unchecked itself automatically. What should I do?
