Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum,
my problem is as follows: I recently purchased a Samsung LCD TV model le37a457, everything works perfectly except I can’t connect my Wii. I’m doing all the connections just like I did with my old TV, I turn on the Wii and it's impossible to display the Wii menu by pressing AV, EXT1, EXT2... the screen remains black and does not detect any external source (however, my DVD player is detected just fine).
I should mention that I’m connecting my Wii using the 3 cables: yellow (video), red and white (audio). I’ve also tried connecting it via the SCART adapter provided with the Wii, but the result is the same.
Here are my questions:
- Is this normal?
- Is it necessary to buy a YUV cable, Wii component, RGB... what are the differences between these cables?
According to my research, I should normally be able to connect with the 3 standard colored cables, so thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
The cable with 3 RCA provided originally is designed to be connected to a standard SCART (non-RGB) or to the old audio and video IN inputs of tube TVs.
So if you connect your 3 RCA WII to the RCA inputs of your new Samsung, it's normal that it doesn't work, as those inputs on your TV are exclusively YUV inputs. You need to buy a Nintendo cable, or an adapter, that converts the WII output into 5 RCA plugs (3 for the YUV red-green-blue input and the other 2 to connect to your TV's Audio inputs).
As for the SCART adapter, I can't explain why it's not working, unless maybe you've connected your WII to the RGB socket instead of the other one: check the TV manual for connecting consoles (for the SCART, but also for any possible settings).
Happy connecting!

change of TV, I can no longer use the Wii. However, the VCR and GameCube work
fine. I don't think it's the Wii since it works well on another TV. My new TV is
a Philips 28-32PW9509. I set the 3 "ext" and "side" to "game," and when I turn on my Wii, the screen goes gray
instead of blue as if it doesn't detect it. The sound comes through just fine. When I go to the channel, it
shows CVBS next to the channel name. Could you clarify my problem? Thanks in advance.
