Hello, I was given a Blackberry PDA type device that won't turn on. However, the network/battery indicator keeps flashing red continuously at regular intervals of 5 seconds. I can't even turn off the indicator. What could that be? Is the phone locked? What should I do? Please help me.
Configuration: Opera 9.50

I had the same problem, and I did exactly the same thing, and it works. Thank you, Marie.

Thank you very much!!! Finally, I no longer have to have another light next to me to text at night!!!

In fact, you need to remove the battery, charge it without the battery, and then put the battery back in while keeping it on charge... let's see why? Otherwise, abandon Blackberry.

Thank you, Django, I succeeded.

I succeeded, thank you very much Fridule, but the problem is that the phone turns on and then it charges just a little bit and then it turns off and it turns back on, and so on!!
I also have the same problem with a 8520, I measured the battery voltage after 5 hours of charging, I only had 3.1V instead of 3.7V, not normal.
yet the phone is only 4 months old, it's not cool.
so I ordered another battery, I will keep you updated.

I found the solution, I hope it will help a good number of you!
It often happens that when you talk with your Blackberry Pearl until the battery is dead, it discharges completely, and even when you try to charge it again, your Blackberry Pearl won't turn on.
To solve this problem (which I have not tested on other models):
You need to:
- Unplug the BB Pearl from the charger
- Remove the battery
- Plug your Blackberry back in without the battery
- Turn it on
A "battery empty" icon will appear
Leave the BB Pearl plugged into the wall, and put the battery back in
Then, press the button to turn it on, normally it should turn on.

Hello friends, I assure you, apparently you are not the only ones!!!! I have the same problem, I put the battery in the phone and then I charged it but after 12 hours still the same thing, the red light that lights up in 4 intervals... so I checked the battery and found that there is a part covered by a sticker (there’s a padlock next to it) so I removed the sticker and put the battery back in the device and everything is charging, I don't know if that will solve the problem or not!!!!!
please help if you have any
thank you

Personally, mine wouldn't turn on at all. Then, like some, it only blinked. Occasionally, it would turn on for a few seconds, but as soon as I put it in my pocket, I couldn't turn it on again. Eventually, I "played" a bit with the battery, holding it in place with my finger, I pressed the button to turn it on while still applying pressure on the battery, and it turned back on. MAGIC! Since then, it hasn't turned off again. I think it was due to the battery. Good luck to you.
The problem with the bar is related to the mobile software; it's not a hardware issue. Installing BlackBerry Desktop Software and updating the software version should resolve this issue.
I had the same problem, I went to SFR (Champs-Élysées), they reformatted it for me and since then it's working again!
I advise you to go to the largest store of your operator if you want to have a chance that your phone doesn't spend a month in customer service!
Unfortunately, many don't want to put in the effort...
There you go ;)

I have the same problem with the Bold: the red LED light started to blink continuously. My solution: shock the phone. That is to say, while the phone is on,
remove the battery without turning it off with the button. Then, when putting the battery back in, it turns on automatically. And there, the problem was fixed...
