Hello,
I have been a Free customer for 3 years and my boxes were working properly until last month. The Freebox HD remains stuck on the Freebox message, even though I haven't unplugged the Peritel socket or the Ethernet connection. I only restarted the HD by unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in a few minutes later (5 min).

Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 1.0

Hi Karamiell,
I have the same problem as you. I disconnected my two boxes during the holidays (from August 5 to 10), and the day I returned, I reconnected everything, and the HD box remains stuck on Freebox.
(I did everything: reboot, hard reboot, yellow cable in the yellow socket, in the Ethernet ports, reboot HD... after a few hours of reading forum manipulations.
Three phone calls later with customer service, I lost my patience and they're sending a tech on Tuesday... they're very clever at Free, if the tech restarts the box with basic manipulations, they'll charge you 60€ for the visit! But they can't guarantee that they're not doing updates fixing the problem while waiting for the intervention!
..plus, Free did not offer to refund the hotline fees and the lack of TV service for 10 days if the problem indeed comes from their box!
I’m not an IT specialist, but logically, I was watching TV before going on vacation, I cut the power for 5 days, I come back, and it doesn’t work anymore. What could it be besides updates??? Or little mice?
I don’t know if this will help you, anyway, I’ll add the outcome of the technician's visit (I forgot, I even tested a friend's HD box and it works!)

In front of the Freebox HD, there are 5 buttons: 4 with a triangle design and 1 with a round design
I connected the Free as usual, then when I turned it on, it still said Freebox. I pressed the middle button, the one with the round design, for 5 seconds and magically everything started up. There are 5 steps where the software installs, then the Free reboots. Then we despair because the Freebox message comes back, but you have to wait, and in a few seconds, everything is okay IT WORKS.
