Hello,
do we lose the ability to erase a CD-RW when we finalize it?
Why do that? To test uncertain burns, tired of wasting CDs
Thanks

Hello,
Indeed, if you finalize your CD-RW, like any other CD, you won't be able to erase or write on it anymore.
That's a myth!
It is perfectly possible to finalize CD-RWs without removing the ability to erase them later. I do it very often.
Finalizing a CD-RW closes the CD but ensures you can read it elsewhere later. Simply put, after that, you obviously can't add anything more. But formatting is always possible.
Generally, a CD is finalized for audio, DVD, or when you reach maximum capacity.
Finalization is also done for data CDs in overburning (exceeding the size of the CD).

Hello
I wanted to ask you how to finalize a CDR, I don't know how to do it. Thank you for helping me, and by the way, do you know where I can get a video controller for ACR since I formatted my PC with Vista to install XP, I don't have it anymore. Thanks in advance, and please reply to my email at stephy868@hotmail.com.

Hello,
So, for all those who still doubt it, we can obviously erase a CD-RW or DVD-RW even if it has been finalized. In fact, when we erase it, we do what Pierre from Aix says, which is formatting, so the CD becomes blank again.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
Kisses

Hi,
if you have a recorder, go to disc information and there it will ask you if you want to finalize.
If you don't do it, you might not be able to play your DVD on another player.
That said, not all players can read all formats!
If you're talking about a CDR, for example, when you make an audio CD, your computer (I have XP) will ask you.
If it is not rewritable, you will indeed block it, so make sure to fill it up properly first.
I hope it works out!
By the way, for a finalized DVD RW, you will have to reformat it if you want to erase it.
Let us know if it works.

Thank you Teutates, I will be able to test my burns.
Today I wasted two CDs again. Yet the simulation had worked well but at the time of burning, it was the buffer that let me down. I must say I was maxing out, but then, what’s the point of the simulation?

If not done,
- disable the burning time for everything running in the background (screensaver....),
- of course, do not ask for anything else (no word processing or other software) and stay disconnected from the internet,
- defragment first.
But it's strange! What burner do you have and what burning speeds?
Another strangeness, the successful simulation while then it’s bad! In principle, the simulation tells you if it will be correct or not.
What burning software is it again?

Hello Teutates, I'm burning with Nero 5.5 at x8 or x4 to make sure it works.
Yesterday the simulation crashed at x8 and x2 but succeeded at x4. I didn’t change anything and poof... the burning failed at 99% of the end AHRG!
I was burning a divx that I've had for a long time and that is two times 768Mb so I have to maximize.
The funniest thing is that the CD works on my standalone player (except for the few minutes that are missing) but not at all on the computer that created it.
One last thing, my hard drive is about to explode... that might be one of the causes...

The engraving is messing up!
We need to go back to the old method, the one from the time of the heroic and slow engravers!!!!
- Disable everything running in the background: no screensaver, disconnected from the internet, antivirus turned off, no other simultaneous work (not even a word processor)
- Defragment first.
At least for the time it takes to better understand the problem ;-))
Laugh and have fun!!!

Yes, I will try to ask my computer for even less, but well, the successful simulation is annoying, I tell myself: "I should have burned it straight away."
Carpe Diem but I always forget ...
I did finalize a DVD-RW and then recorded another program on it in addition to what was finalized, and it works: so it doesn't block the DVD!
Hi,
Indeed, if you finalize your CD-RW, like any other CD, you will no longer be able to erase or write on it.
Generally, finalizing a CD is done for audio, DVD, or when you reach maximum capacity.
If the issue comes from CDs that fail during burning, it's better to use branded CDs (like Verbatim). Packs of 10 for €10 are cheap but in terms of quality... Just like with packs of 50 or 100 CDs.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that at all!!
Is the deletion done in complete mode or in simple mode?
See you later!
