Hello,

I am using software and a database that were sold at the time on a CD-ROM...

I would like to use it on a PC without a CD drive.

I tried to simply copy the contents of the CD onto a USB drive

From the USB drive, I am able to install the software on the new PC, but when I try to use the software to access the database, it asks me to insert the CD...

Can someone help me?

Thank you!!

    Hello,

In my opinion, the CD is the license key for this program and without the CD, it doesn't work; you become a pirate.

We do not provide assistance with such practices.

    Hello,

His goal is not to hack but to use his CD on a PC without a CD drive.

You can create a disk image (ISO file) with ImgBurn.

Then mount it as a virtual CD in Windows > Open with > Windows Explorer.

If he doesn't want to hear anything about it, there's nothing more we can do.

    Hello
You will need software to create an "iso" of your original CD, it's a "photo" of your CD, a virtual CD.

Then you need another software that will create a virtual CD drive, which will allow you to read a virtual CD as if it were a real one. For example, Virtual CloneDrive.

Once the virtual drive program is installed, it will allow you to create one (or more) virtual CD drives (like E: or F: etc) and by clicking on the drive, it will offer to "mount" an ISO on the drive.

Be aware that some protected CDs do not work with this method and therefore will probably not work with anything.

      Hello,

It should work with a USB burner.
