Very, very long restoration... Solved

Question

Hello,
Since this afternoon, at 6 PM, I have been restoring my PC (Vista), with about 250GB of space used on the hard drive, and I'm starting to think that 4 hours of restoration is getting quite long...

I'm performing the restoration from a menu that I accessed by pressing F8 at startup...

Yeah, I recommend you to restore from your desktop when your PC is fully turned on.

By pressing F8, you are not performing a system restore but a system reinstallation.
If you are really doing a system restore, it should normally take a maximum of 15 minutes.
If it has been more than 3 hours and 30 minutes, you can shut down your PC as there is a bug; the restoration will not occur!

We're never 100% sure, but a system restore started at 3:30 PM. If it ever finishes, I doubt your PC will be operational!

Some news...: I stopped working in the restaurant business. I restarted my PC. Windows loading bar then a black screen.

I contacted Dell. I was able to regain access to safe mode. I'm doing a restore again.

Great, I had a keyboard problem, and after a restoration that took 3 hours and 30 minutes, it's working!
