Hello,
I have a problem with interference between the Freebox and my Samsung LCD TV.
My Freebox doesn't detect the remote control signal at all when my TV is on. I have to stick the remote control to the sensor of the Freebox for it to work somewhat properly. However, as soon as I turn off the TV, the remote control works wonderfully, even from the other side of the room, aiming at the ceiling...
On the other hand, it often happens that the remote works great even if the TV is on. It seems to depend on the days and its mood...
Has anyone had a similar experience or any idea how to fix it...?
Thanks...

Incredible!
My Freebox HD remote control wasn't working well in the living room, while in the bedroom (with the HD Multi-TV decoder) it was working perfectly.
The remote control stopped functioning properly when I lowered the brightness of the TV image (in the LCD options, not the Freebox HD); but I didn't make the connection between the two at that time.
So the SOLUTION: reset the TV image settings to default, and the Freebox HD remote control started working perfectly again!
Kudos to this forum for solving this issue.

Hello
I bought a 94cm Sharp LCD which has a wonderful system called opc. For two or three days, I had an issue with my remote control which worked once out of fifteen! After doing two or three tests, I noticed that the opc system interfered with the Freebox remote control. I am a seller in digital convergence, originally in IT and then TV, and I have dissected the various TVs I know. If you don’t want to have problems, get yourself a good old crappy TV and you won’t have this issue. The downside is that you’ll have poor quality. So, disable the light sensor that adjusts the backlighting. There you go, that's the solution. I am looking for the real cause and the actual functioning of this sensor. I will keep you updated when I have more details.

Good evening, before deciding to call Free about my remote control problem that is driving me crazy, I decided to search a bit on the forums. So I tried, as someone suggested, to turn off the TV, and lo and behold! My remote control is working wonderfully!!!
My TV is over 10 years old, so I classify it in the "good old crappy TV" category, so sorry, but using an old TV is not the solution!
For my part, this way I avoid spending hours with Free's hotline, and I just have to change my TV, hoping not to encounter this problem again.
I have temporarily moved the Freebox away from my TV, and it's already reacting much better, even if it's not as perfect as when the TV is off. Thank you.

It also happens to me with any remote control when the TV brightness is set too low. At least for me, just increasing the TV brightness is enough.
Thank you, it's been three months that this has been going on. Free has changed my box three times and my remote control four times.
They sent a technician who said it was the box again. Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I also have a Philips Cinéos 42PFL9603H and I have the same problem.
I tried this procedure... and it doesn't work for me! A remote control that only works when the TV is off... uh, well, basically... it's not practical... and even... it's useless!
To be sure we are talking about the same thing, is it the "light sensor" that you turned off?
If that's it (and I don't see any other possibilities), it doesn't work for me. The remote control is still inactive...
Basically... and to be quick... this thing is seriously starting to get on my nerves!
One weird thing too:
pressing the 4 colored round buttons at the top of the remote is perfectly detected by the decoder, the black buttons on the side too, but the most important ones (the ones that control the TV) don't work!
Thank you for your help.

I also have this problem, the Freebox remote control doesn't work despite all the devices next to it being turned off, even the TV. I received a new remote control and still nothing. It's been almost 6 months that this has been going on, and it's starting to feel long. When we call Free, either they don't answer, or they tell us to do a hard reboot, which is useless. I think it might be the box, but how can I be sure? They don't want to send anyone to check?
If you have any solutions, please let me know.

What I conclude: (personal conclusion)
A LCD screen that is not at its normal operating level...
because the brightness has been manually turned down or
because the automatic light adjustment has lowered it or
because it hasn't yet reached its operating temperature
certainly emits a lot of infrared.
Drowned in this infrared "lighting," remote controls that do not emit with enough power are not detected by their respective sensors.
I imagine that the TV manufacturer has accounted for this with its own remote control. It must emit more strongly.
This is not the case for DVDs, Freebox, VCRs, decoders... (and what about the Wii in all of this? I don't have one.)

Well, I guess you just gave me the solution (at least I hope!) to my problem... which is somewhat different actually:
I have a Samsung LE46A796, a Freebox HD, and when I change channels with my TV remote... it cuts the sleep mode of my PC and turns it back on O_o ...
So I'm going to try to disable that tonight... Fingers crossed!

Good evening,
for your information, I had the same malfunction issue with my Toshiba LVD TV and my Freebox located in the room below in my cabinet... Being in "autoview" mode, the screen adjusts its brightness to the room and in the evening, the brightness is at minimum and my remote control stops working. By increasing the brightness (in "dynamic" mode), everything goes back to normal immediately.
Impressive.....
Thank you!!!

Hello,
Exactly the same problems as gigilev, with a Toshiba LCD TV 40LV675D.
And indeed, by switching to "dynamic" mode, the remote control of my Freebox HD works perfectly.
Thank you very much!!!!

Hello, it's your TV that's interfering with your remote control. For your Samsung TV, you need to turn off the eco mode or energy saving mode. You can clearly see in this mode that the TV's brightness increases or decreases. For your remote control to work perfectly, it's better to set it to "off" (not great for the planet!!). Be careful, to access the menu you have to press the "menu" button on your Samsung remote first, then "settings," and scroll all the way down. (because the menu doesn't appear fully on the TV; it's sort of a hidden menu). There, you'll see "eco mode," change it to off. There you go, enjoy these moments when you won't have to get up to change the channel! (just kidding, don’t take it the wrong way!!!)
Use a gray aluminum anti-static plastic film (hard disk or motherboard packaging) to place in front of the freebox hd receiver and it works wonders.
It's a miracle.
It's a miracle.
I confirm: the remote control for the Freebox and the one for the DVD player work VERY poorly when the TV is on.
I didn't notice it at first.
It is true that afterwards, I lowered the brightness of the TV.
I will see what changing it back does...

It took me a good month to make the connection between my remote control issues and the fact that my TV was on.
But I don't think I would have ever thought to increase the screen brightness to solve this problem.
Congratulations! It worked for me!

I'm back again with the same problem...
Except that I've changed my Freebox for Numericable...
And the problem is identical... The remote only works when the TV is off or after at least an hour of operation... And then it works perfectly...
It seems, therefore, that it comes from the TV...
Weird, though...

Hello, like you, I had the same problem. In fact, I have a Toshiba LCD TV, and I tried to adjust the picture because it was actually too bright/contrasty for me. The issue with the Freebox remote control is immediately resolved by disabling the "automatic contrast" option. It must be emitting infrared to capture the ambient "brightness" and thus adapt for the best setting, but as mentioned earlier, this drowns out the signals from the Freebox remote control.

Thank you! The Freebox nearly went out the window!
Thanks for the tips!
