No sound from mp4 file with VLC Solved

Question

Hello,  I filmed with my phone and the video is in mp4 format. However, there is no sound either with Windows Media Player or VLC.  What should I do?

Hey everyone. I've found a solution to get sound with an MP4 file on VLC. I struggled to find it, but it works for me.
Go to Tools/Preferences.
Then at the bottom, it says "simple" or "all." Click on "all," then go to the Audio tab and click on the small "+", then click on Visualization.
And there it says Audio Visualizations; you expand the little thing where it says "preset" and set it to "Visualization filter," and it should work.

Yes, it's true Quark, there are quite a few nonsense things said here, lol!
If neither WMP nor VLC can play the mp4 video, I don't think Real would have been able to do it either, lol!

That said, I've been having the same problem since last night!
Whereas before I could read (and hear, of course) my videos filmed with my phone (in mp4) with any player... I really mean any player, whether it was WMP11 (Windows Media Player 11), VLC, and others...
However, since last night when I performed an "Update" for the LightScribe Player, I have the image but no sound for the videos converted to "mp4", while others like "avi" work just fine.
So all I have left is to find where this famous "UPDATE" is installed and delete it (since it doesn't appear in "Add/Remove Programs"), or did I overlook it???

As for Corentin, you can understand that people don't necessarily want to install multiple software?
Not to mention the space all these logs take up and the conflicts that can arise!
The people who come here do so for help... Not to be scolded or anything! There are plenty of sites where people argue all the time, and for that, you don't need to try to help others then.

I just had the same issue: MP4 with no sound on VLC and other players.
Well, it didn’t resist SUPER.
SUPER is "super" for converting videos.
But it can also play them!

Instructions:
- drag and drop the video into SUPER
- check the video
- click on PLAY

Hello

Well, for the sound I think it's either the update that is causing this issue, or the next one.
I have a PC with Vista on which the sound works perfectly because I transfer my videos using the Samsung software (provided with the phone, half of the software's functions don't work).
On this PC with Windows 7, the software is not compatible but I still installed the transfer drivers and the sound doesn't work.
It's been a while since I tried on the laptop.

So I think it's certainly caused by a problem during the transfer, maybe without the software, the sound is removed from the file.
Otherwise, we should see if there are any specialized media players for the MP4 format and try again.
I'll leave that to you since I don't have the leisure to search on Google for others. :p

I had the same problem with the sound on VLC, but here's how I managed to play the video:
Open the video then go to "audio" --> "stereo mode" change it to "reverse stereo" and there you go, it works :)
