Hello,
I have a little problem with some cells in Excel. Every time I click on these cells, it says:
"the text string you entered is too long. Reduce the number of characters or cancel your entry"

The problem is that there are cells containing the same formula and I can click on some of them but not on others. What should I do???? Please help me. Thanks
Configuration: Windows 98 Internet Explorer 5.5

Hello,

I don't quite understand your issue, what is the relationship between the cell with the too long chain and the cells with the same formula?

I'm explaining to you about "el matador." There's a formula in a cell, I admit it's long (even very long), then I tried to drag this formula with the little plus in the bottom right of the cell. So far, so good.
Now, if I want to view the formula by clicking in other cells, it shows me:

"The text string you entered is too long. Reduce the number of characters or cancel the entry."

When I copy this formula and try to paste it into another cell, I still get that same message. Do you have any idea??? I hope I was clear. This is the first time something like this has happened to me.. thank you.

Hello,

If your formula is very long, it will be very difficult to maintain if it needs to be updated.
There might be a way to write the same thing differently, or otherwise use several cells.

Hi eriiic,
I was bothered by having to redo the entire sheet considering 2 cells, so I had to find a simpler way by enlarging the size of my rows and columns. Apparently, it works, so I'm still happy about it.
