Hello,
I received a missed call from a phone number starting with 04 26.., could it be a telemarketing number like those starting with 01 70? Thank you for your response.

The numbers 01 7--- and others like 04 26--- are actually numbers available for rental from French or foreign telephone operators; they are generally virtual numbers, as in France we are not very familiar with these practices, but abroad, like in England, you can buy or rent phone numbers from anywhere in the world. Generally, these numbers are allocated to an operator in batches of 100 or more and then offered for rent, so it is almost impossible to know to whom they belong. But this is not only for businesses but also for individuals; today we see numbers starting with 04 30 for a city like Perpignan when the area code is 04 68. Otherwise, we also have numbers starting with 09, the internet numbers. And since internet operators in France all offer internet telephony solutions, these numbers are surfacing, as it is sometimes too expensive to constantly repurchase numbers from France Telecom.
So to remember, most of the numbers 04 26, 01 7----, 04 30 or even 09--- are internet numbers, not necessarily businesses, sometimes individuals taking ADSL or cable access from the best-known operators.
