Hello, this is a cry for help
Back from vacation in Tanzania, eager to look at my photos, I must have made an error in handling (removing the card from the reader or from the camera while it was on) and now my 1GB Sandisk card is no longer recognized in my card reader (it works fine with another card) and the camera gives me the message "card not usable or damaged, please insert another card." Of course, I don't have any backups yet and I haven't formatted it (that's for sure).
Can you guide me on what to do to recover at least some of the photos from the 400 I took?
Thanks in advanceConfiguration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.14

Hello,
I had the same problem as Benz and Jean Mouloude. My 8GB SD card was not responding. Windows only showed a volume of 8MB and prevented me from formatting and accessing the card. However, just after inserting the SD card into my reader, there were a few seconds during which I was able to access my card's folder.
So I prepared a command line to format the volume which I executed immediately after inserting the card.
The command line is: "
The formatting is quick thanks to /Q which does not completely erase the data but restores the File System of the card.
From then on, I was able to use a utility to recover the photos (in my case, I used photorec and recuva)
Be careful, I still lost a few photos, but overall I recovered a good 70% of the photos and I got my card back :).
I encourage you to try to make a bit-by-bit backup of the SD card before attempting what I've described above (with software like XXClone: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/24577-xxclone/), I didn't do it...
Hoping this resolves your issue.
