Torrent transmission mac issue

Hello,
I recently acquired an iMac and I'm really satisfied with it.
I use Transmission (1.20) to download (software, of course!) and sites like Mininova and Smartorrent to search for torrents.
However, recently I can't download anything anymore. I have the torrents in my download folder but they're just a small white icon. Before, I had the Transmission icon. And when I double-click the white icon, Opera launches? I don't understand anything.
Thank you for your help.

Sorry for the description of my problem, but I'm just starting out.

Transmission is a piece of junk (limited, in fact, and subject to recurring crashes).

Use Aeureus from Vuze (Mac & Win): http://www.vuze.com/download.php
OR: http://www.vuze.com/az-web/app
With some very interesting plugs. Great software! Highly customizable.

For Safari: FORGET IT!
Use Firefox: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/fr/products/firefox/
Also with some very interesting plugs (including 2 for torrent: TorrentBar and Torrent Finder) - excellent

And while you're with Mozilla, forget Mail and download Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/fr/products/
Which ALSO has very interesting plugs.

There is also BitTorrent: http://www.bittorrent.com/download
Less complete than Azureus but good software.

All are Mac & Win - All are free - of course!
Don't forget to seed! - Thanks

Hello! I don't know any more than you do, but personally, I had a connection problem with LimeWire. In fact, it was Safari that could no longer support the transmission. I installed Firefox and LimeWire worked after that.

Thank you for your response.

I had to download Firefox to open a web page that Safari refused. It might be Firefox that is now blocking my torrents.

Hello, I installed the new update of Transmission and since then when I open a torrent file it no longer appears in Transmission, what should I do? Thank you.

HELLO EVERYONE, IT SEEMS THAT THE LAST TRANSMISSION UPDATE IS DEFECTIVE (1.20). PERSONALLY, I UNINSTALLED IT TO REINSTALL 1.11 AND IT'S WORKING AGAIN. BYE

I agree with you WANGUILLOS. It seems there is indeed a faulty version of Transmission. I had been using it for a few months, and after an update, no downloads would start anymore.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Transmission in V1.51, and everything is working normally again.

Indeed, it seems that there is a problem with Transmission: when I open it, Safari or Firefox crashes. Problem solved with Azureus (Vuze).

I find that the transmission works well
but indeed I had to download the old version from Clubic.

Désolé beurkblob, mais j'utilise Transmission depuis environ 6 mois, et il n'a jamais planté.
De plus, sur ma petite config', il télécharge plus vite qu'Azureus, trop gourmand à mon goût...

Sorry beurkblob, but I've been using Transmission for about 6 months, and it has never crashed.
Moreover, on my little setup, it downloads faster than Azureus, which is too resource-hungry for my taste...

See you later

Ps: sorry for the accentuation...

Hello,

On Mac, Transmission is by far the best. I've had version 1.22 for two months and have never experienced any crashes, plus it's not at all resource-hungry like Bittorrent or Azureus that I've tried on Mac (it's different on PC).

Hi, Right-click on the icon you just downloaded (torrent). Select "Get Info".
Then select "Open with", choose "Transmission", and then click on "Change All".
This way every time you download a torrent file, it will be handled by Transmission.

It obviously works for all other files that don't have a link to an application.
It's very convenient to choose your favorite apps.

Tip: Rather go to Mac4Ever or Generation Mac or something like that for your Mac questions
See you later
