Hello,
I regularly connect to the internet at my workplace using my Macbook and an Orange Wifi Access connection. Browsing the web works absolutely fine EXCEPT for Facebook. The login page appears when it wants to, and when I do manage, rarely!, to access the Facebook homepage, I can never go further. The page then takes a long time to load and always ends up displaying an error message.
However, when I am at home, I connect via the Neuf Wifi with the same Mac, and even though the site is sometimes slow (I think it's a bit slow for everyone), I never have connection issues.
I quickly deduced (as I imagine you did) that the problem might be with the Orange connection... BUT my colleagues connect to Facebook without any issues using their laptops with the same connection.
Could it be possible that there is a specific conflict between Mac, Orange, and Facebook?

Hi Yannick, I have the same problem with my new Mac; everything works except Facebook :( I did what you suggested but it still doesn't work :s I don't know what to do anymore...
I had this problem too. Being a "facebook addict" and recently a new owner of a MacBook Pro; I was totally frustrated not being able to access Facebook.
By searching a bit, I managed to solve this inconvenience!!!
Actually:
Click on the Airport icon at the top right of the screen (the icon to the left of the battery indicator),
then open Network Preferences,
click on "Advanced",
click on the "Ethernet" tab,
click on "Configure" and select "Manually".
Then click on "MTU" and select Custom.
Change the value 1500 to 1400. Apply and close the window.
You can now fully enjoy Facebook!

Good evening everyone.
Tonight, on my way back from class, I logged onto Facebook. It worked for about 30 seconds and then bam! The computer displays a message: "Safari has unexpectedly disconnected" or something like that.. So the same problem as some of you. I tried Yannick's solution, and no, nothing worked..
What should I do? I've had my MacBook for three days and I'm already encountering issues when just yesterday I spent at least 4 hours on Facebook without any problems...
HELP!!!
Thank you in advance!

Hello,
Same problem here.
I have an iMac running Mountain Lion and a MacBook Pro running Lion, both connected via Wi-Fi through a Neufbox.
For the past 2 or 3 days, I've been unable to access Facebook even though it was working perfectly until now. I switched from Firefox to Safari to Chrome, but the problem persists on all three browsers.
The MTU adjustment hasn’t helped either.
What’s even more frustrating is that Facebook works perfectly on my partner's PC. The same goes for my iPhone, there’s no connection problem with Facebook.
Has anyone managed to find an explanation?
Thank you!
Note: It should also be noted that the Facebook notifications in the notification center under Mountain Lion are working fine.

same for me and not just for facebook, but also aol. I can get to my aol window but I can't open the mail page. Besides the yellow pages, youtube, and a few sites from google, nothing works, neither on firefox nor safari. Well, what reassures me is that I’m not the only one these days. Don’t you think it’s an apple connection failure? It would be the first time for me.
So if I understand correctly, there is still no solution for this unstable connection problem with Facebook?? Or are those who posted not following up because the problem disappears as it appeared?
As for me, I tested the custom MTU setting at 1400 but it didn’t change anything either!
Does anyone have other suggestions or solutions to propose?

THANK YOU Yannick, I've been searching for weeks all by myself like an idiot for hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac!!!!!!!
:D :D :D

THANK YOU !!!
I have been trying for 4 days to import photos to Flickr in vain, and it crashed every time.
Additionally, I had a number of websites that wouldn't load and kept timing out.
And Apple support couldn't solve the problem.
Today, for the first time since getting my MacBook Pro, I connected to Facebook. And there, I couldn't load the page. After a quick search on Google, I came across your answer.
And just like that, everything was resolved!!! Thank you again.

Hello. I had the same connection problem with Facebook on my newly purchased Mac. To fix it, I simply removed Facebook from Top Sites, updated it, and it works!!!
Yes, I almost forgot!
I also have problems with MSN. I can connect to it, but the conversations are often interrupted. Most of the time, I find myself talking to nobody.

Same here, except on iPhone... There, no problem, it works. But not via my Mac...
And "you can brush yourself off Martine" to get help from Orange or Facebook...

The problem does not arise from compatibility issues with Orange, Facebook, and Mac, as I have a MacBook connected via Wi-Fi to a Livebox and I can connect to Facebook.
Hi
I had the same issue. But it was even stranger because FB was working perfectly on my MacBook connected via Wi-Fi and was excessively slow on my iMac connected via Ethernet to my Neuf box.
I tested disconnecting the Ethernet and switching my iMac to Wi-Fi, and there... IT WORKS perfectly on the machines
So there's a problem with the Neuf/SFR box, something I'd like to have explained to me.
