Projector Problem Vertical Lines

Hello,
I have a projector: NEC MultiSync MT800 that I connect to a PC via VGA (I tried S-Video to see if the problem persists, and it doesn’t change anything). The projector turns on correctly and displays my PC on the wall, but vertical lines appear (like green, red, or blue), and it looks like there’s a double image, one normal and the other slightly offset. The first image is perfect (as one might expect from a projector of this type), but it's peppered with these lines.
Recently, these lines were less numerous when I turned it on, and then they would gradually disappear after about 20 seconds, but now nothing seems to work. I’ve tried using a different computer, different cables, and S-Video while adjusting the settings in the projector’s menu, but nothing works. It’s been used for about 500 hours of projection.

Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.6
And the projector is only 2 years old!
