Spam call 0177 Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,
I am curious to know where the phone numbers starting with 01 77... come from. I recently received a call from a number that began with these digits, but I didn't have time to write it down completely, so I have no idea who it might be!

Telephone communications are regulated by ARCEP (Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes). Search for ARCEP via Google. On the consumer tab, enter the first 6 digits of the number that is bothering you. You will obtain the name of the telephone operator. There are currently 972: FranceTelecom, Bouigues, Free, SFR, etc.

I was disturbed at night, receiving up to 10 calls, and probably several hundred other subscribers of FranceTelecom were also disturbed, by a robot testing the applications of a salesperson or a telemarketer, while my number was on the Orange list. ARCEP pressured SFR, the salesperson's operator. SFR took the necessary steps with its client, and I am no longer disturbed.

The procedure is cumbersome but effective:

- File a complaint with the gendarmerie or the police (It's not easy, but you must insist).
- Send a copy of the complaint to ARCEP and the concerned telephone operator.*
- Send a letter to the deputy of your constituency asking them to submit a bill lifting the current anonymity of telephone calls. As a good politician, they will respond off-topic, but the idea will take root. Spain has made it mandatory, about 3 months ago, for telephone operators to reveal the caller's details. Why does the French legislation allow the opposite?

Regarding the unknown number, I believe it's a premium number when you call it back.
When you call it back, you reach a male voicemail with a deep voice that says "please hold, I will connect you to the extension... please hold a moment... just a few more seconds... please hold for a few more seconds..." then nothing more.

I received a call from 0177456900 two hours ago,  I answered and then a distant and strange voice repeated that I was going to die in 7 days, called me by my last name and said it was too bad, I'm young.  Then it hung up. I thought it was a joke from someone I knew, but no... I called back the number and a voicemail tells me to wait as they will connect me to an agent... then it hung up.  Nice call to get after work...  I really hope the people behind all this get caught, because I find this joke of VERY bad taste!

the numbers 01 77 and others are virtual numbers, not associated with any geographical area. It's the same system as green or premium-rate numbers, or those from ADSL boxes. But when you call them, it's at the local or national rate depending on where you live. Regional numbers stop around 01 69, I believe.

I had the same problem as you.... The phone ringing several times a night with beeping when I answered.... And I actually understood everything when I connected a fax machine to my phone. France Télécom had given me the old fax number of a large transport company, and I was receiving tons of advertising, orders, and meter reading requests. So, of course, when you pick up, the fax thinks it's reaching a fax phone, so it retries its attempt. Completel is a company that sends advertising by fax.  So I took my courage in both hands, and normally on each advertisement there is a number to unsubscribe from the fax advertising list. I did this systematically, and after a few days I received nothing at all. Otherwise, I heard that people in the same situation, meaning those who received an old fax number, can request a free phone number change from France Télécom.

Hello,  I see that I'm not the only one receiving calls from unknown numbers (I have only shared my box number with a limited number of people and I have registered on the silent list). For my part, the number is 03 69 65 09 00. I don't know if it's the same kind of phone number as the previous ones. But I always receive these calls when I'm not there, and they don't leave a message on the answering machine. The reverse number lookup yields nothing. It must be an internal business number. The receptionist, apparently very used to this, asked me for my phone number to be removed from the list.

We are in the same situation as all of you. For months now, we have been disturbed in the evening around 10:30-11:00 PM, sometimes much later, in the morning around 6:00 AM from this number 0177939300, and during the day it's an unidentifiable number on our telephone line even though we are on the orange list. For my part, there is no way I will call anyone to get me removed from their list. I keep track of the days and dates of the calls, and now I am filing a complaint with the public prosecutor. They should do their job properly and check carefully before recording numbers to see if they are fax numbers or not.
I am very angry.

After reading your post, I thought to myself "WE MUST ACT". I therefore had a fit of anger with France Télécom, because since last October it's practically every night (5:30 AM and around 11 PM). I have top secret but it doesn't work if the number shows up (in short, it's useless). Three minutes with one service and then quite a while with another.
Conclusion.
You need to file a complaint with the gendarmerie or the police station in your area for this company to be held accountable. France Télécom has no power because it's a competing telephone operator. Your complaints will go directly to a special service at France Télécom via the gendarmerie. If there are several complaints from different departments, the complaint will be successful. So, starting tomorrow, I will file a complaint with the gendarmerie against this company. I encourage you to do the same to finally see a law enforced. We're fed up with these illegal companies. They hassle us for a seatbelt or a mobile call, or worse, for going just a little over the speed limit. Does the government need funds? This is the opportunity to refill the coffers honorably without hitting the taxpayer's wallet.
For once, the loudmouths need to act and talk later.

Hello, I had the same problem with a masked number call from a voice server telling me to call back a number starting with 01. I didn't have time to jot it down, fortunately for me. Orange press release: Many customers in the Nancy area have been reporting unwanted calls since Saturday, including during the night, which is particularly disturbing. Investigations carried out by our services have identified the source of the problem; it is a poorly programmed robot generating calls from a phone number belonging to the SFR operator directed at individuals. The caller is a foreign Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) looking to establish itself in France. SFR has taken the necessary steps to stop the calls by disabling the problematic router. The unwanted calls should cease consequently.

I too keep getting calls from 0177939300, and to find out more about this number, I searched for it on Google, and surprise, several forums mention it, with many victims of this company. For now, I went to http://www.annuaire-inverse-france.com/ and here, I definitely plan to continue my research to get the exact identity of these people! And then I will file a complaint! 01 77 93 19 90 keeps calling my house, it's a scam I saw online. I feel like since we've been with internet providers (Orange, SFR, AOL, Free, etc.), we have a lot more problems than when we were with Telecom. I switched from Telecom to SFR. When I was with Telecom, I never had this problem.
