[Pcsx2] Slow emulation not normal Solved

Question

Hello,
Here is my problem:

I have a good PC:

Intel Dual Core 4600
2GB of Corsair RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600GT

And when I emulate a PS2 game on my computer, I get an average of 6fps even though I can play all PC games including Crysis....
Others with much less powerful computers emulate much better, up to 70fps
Could you give me the right plugins, BIOS, etc. if necessary or help me properly configure the emulator which happens to be the latest version of PCSX2 0.9.4

Pcsx2 is an emulator that is still in beta. Emulated games running at "acceptable" speed are very rare.

PS2 emulation won't be fully functional until 2035.

Having attempted to emulate various games with a fast PC equipped with a GeForce 9800 GT graphics card, I can confirm that the games launch, but they all lag a lot.

In short, without saying 2035, PS2 emulation is not up to par!!! It's true...

I noticed that the game runs a bit faster when we read from a CD than when we execute it. I play from an ISO (on 9.4) but burned onto a CD (maybe that's the explanation). Just pay attention. I think the best way to find out is to play with the emulator, but playing on the PS2 is more advisable to avoid wasting time and to not be disappointed.

4 gig ram pc at 1033 mhz

I finished FF10 with no slowdowns at 60 fps at 1680*1050 (because I limit it otherwise it goes too fast)

but that's not the case for all games and depending on the settings

Hi,

Personally, I installed version 0.9.6 of pcsx2 today, I fine-tuned the settings, created an iso from an original game that I own but is very damaged, and the result is absolutely horrible.

The game is very slow, the cutscenes are poorly rendered, and the polygon display is monstrous.
Yet it seems to me I have a decent setup since I'm running Windows Vista Basic, I have an AMD Athlon Dual Core 4450e clocked at 2.3GHz, 3 gigs of RAM whose frequency I don't know, and a GeForce 8400 GS graphics card.

The emulator settings would be even more precise if I knew more, but I think that for my game (Def Jam Fight For N.Y.) it wouldn't change much.

I do have a PS2 to play on, but the disc is so scratched that it works one time out of ten, which is annoying.

In any case, I always have a saved iso version on my PC, just in case; otherwise, it's about fifteen euros if I want to get the game in a new version.

In conclusion, I concur with Pavarotti's opinion (which dates back a year!) even if we can hope that PS2 emulation will be perfected before 2035. It’s better to buy a Play2 or a Play3 with backward compatibility if you want to enjoy the great PS2 titles for a little while longer.

I think that the creators of PCSX are capable of making a perfect emulator that works even without a good configuration, but they purposely make it lag. I played Tekken 4 one day (with version 9.2) and it always lagged when a bug occurred and it ran at 24 fps. We could even see some cutscenes.

PCSX2 in its latest version allows for perfect emulation of many games.

I play FFXII at 50FPS (it's better to stick to the PS2's FPS, as PS2 games are rarely at 60 FPS), with textures boosted to 1024x1024 instead of the original game's 640x640. And everything is perfectly playable; I run FFX and FFX-2 in the same way.

However, you need a very good setup, especially a powerful CPU, as the emulator draws most of its power from there and not from the graphics card, even though the latter is not useless either.

Here is my configuration:

Windows Vista (recommended for DirectX 10, which allows the emulator to run much better)
HD Radeon 4800HD
Quad Core Q9550 (since almost all the load is on the processor, it's better to have a dual-core or preferably a quad-core; the emulator handles multiprocessing and hyper-threading very well)
4GB DDR2

With this setup at my place, it runs with very rare slowdowns. The sound is well emulated too.

2035? Of course... At my place, I have to admit it's really struggling, but it's probably a configuration issue with the emulator since at a friend's house, the same games (Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Airblade for example) work perfectly. Roomstation offers tutorials and help on this topic.
