Hello,
I just purchased a 1GB Kingston microSD card to increase the memory of my Nokia 3109 classic phone and to use it as an MP3 player. However, when I insert the card into the phone, nothing happens, and the Nokia PC Suite software still shows the same memory as before.
Is it a compatibility issue with the card and the phone, or is there a special procedure to follow when installing the card?
Thank you all for your upcoming responses!!

Hi,
It seems to me that when you add a micro SD card to a phone and connect it to your computer, the card is recognized as a new device in the file explorer. This means you won't see it through the software. So if you want to add some music, go through the file explorer.

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
I tried to format the card by putting it on my PC like you would format a floppy disk, right-clicking on the card icon in My Computer, then format, but I wonder if I should format it another way. While searching on the forum, I found that I might need to format it using Disk Management, format to FAT?
Do you think that will make a difference? -
I don't think so; normally, by right-clicking, it formats it to FAT as well, it seems to me.

If I put the songs on the card directly through my PC and then put the card back in the phone, do you think it will work?
-
Not sure, I don't know how the Nokia works, but on Sony Ericsson, when you insert the card into the phone, it creates specific folders for each type of file. Without these folders, the phone doesn't "see" the mp3s, for example.
-
Of course, remove your card from the phone, put it in the adapter, and then slide it into your PC. Put whatever you want on it, and then put your card back in your phone.

Yeah, I agree the intruder is the same system on Samsung. When I put my microSD in for the first time, my phone immediately created folders: Images, Sounds, Videos, Other files, Music.
Then when you put your files on your card, you just need to place them in the right spot.

OK, thanks to both of you. I'm going to try this tonight.

Well, here's an update from the front: a new formatting didn't work, but by directly inserting the card into the PC, I was able to transfer all my music without any issues and I can listen to it on the phone. It's worth mentioning that on Nokia, there doesn't seem to be a folder system created on the card; the card is empty and you just put whatever you want directly onto it.
Anyway, the problem is solved, thanks to everyone for your responses!

Well, the answer to my question might seem quite easy to know, but here it is:
I just got a Nokia 3120 classic (today), with a microSD memory card.
I want to remove it from my phone for specific reasons, but I don't know anything about it.
Besides, the manual doesn’t say anything about it (it just explains how to insert it)!!!
Help me! -
Hi,
If your 3120 is the same as my 3109, you need to:
- remove the plastic cover from the back of the phone
- take out the battery by sliding your finger underneath the battery
- if you look at your phone once the battery is removed, the SIM card is at the bottom left, and the microSD card is at the bottom right. You need to slide the metal bracket around the microSD card to the right; there is an arrow pointing right marked "open =>"
- the card comes out by sliding up.
Make sure to respect the orientation of the microSD card when reinserting it, not to damage the small metal contacts on the phone, and to follow the correct orientation when reinstalling the battery!

Hello!
Did you eventually manage to get an SD card to work in a Nokia 3109?
Because I have a 4GB Kingston card, and it's not recognized by the phone (in the gallery/card section, it says card not formatted, or something like that...)
I tried formatting the card with another N95 and it works fine in the N95, but still doesn't work in the 3109. I've also tried formatting it with the PC, and the same thing happens, the 3109 can't read it!
Is it possible that this phone isn't compatible with 4GB?
Thanks in advance! -
Hello,
I recently got a Nokia 3110C phone, and I would like to know if a 2GB Toshiba micro SD memory card is compatible with this phone? Even though the Nokia manual states to use a memory card approved by Nokia.
And the second question is: is a 2GB Sandisk micro SD HC (high capacity) memory card compatible with this phone?
I've been searching for 2 hours and I can't find anything, if someone could help me, that would be nice.
THANK YOU
