Hello,
I have an HP C4380 printer that I connect wirelessly without any problem to my laptop (Sony VGN-NR10E/S) with Vista (great!!). I just switched to a Wi-Fi connection for my internet connection (AOL box) and I realized today when I wanted to use my printer that I could not connect both at the same time! It's a bit bothersome!
Is there a specific setting to do or is it really not possible?
Thank you!!

Check that your computer and printer are on the same network segment: 192.168.1.xxx
Disable DHCP on your router and set your computer + printer to a fixed IP and test the connections by pinging the IPs you have assigned. -
Hello
tutorial for configuring wifi and vista:
Wifi printer configuration
1) First configure your entire network with TCP IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS
then, on your printer, you should be able to find its IP address which is currently dynamic, meaning it changes every day (I pressed the wifi button on my printer, generally on HP, and printed the network configuration)
Once you have found its IP address, launch Internet Explorer and type: "address... IP of the printer", you will enter the wifi printer network configuration base and give it a static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS.
Finally, go to Printers, right-click on your printer, tab Port, create a TCP IP printer port if it does not already exist and double-click on it to configure:
Printer Name > exact name as it is recognized e.g. "HP_C4380_series"
Printer IP > IP you set in the printer configuration (step with Internet Explorer)
2) solution for "BOX" owners:
After installing your printer with your disk and USB cable, when you reach the Wifi installation, turn off your box and leave your printer still connected to the computer.
Turn off the printer. Remove the printer installation disk and replace it with the computer installation disk on BOX.
When you are asked to plug the BOX into an electrical outlet, also turn on your printer. Continue the configuration of your box in WIFI by carefully following the instructions: press the box button when prompted, then the usual questions for the printer: choose your Wifi connection, always follow the instructions to the end.
