utorrent access denied issue Solved/Closed

Question

Hi everyone, I'm reaching out to you after having gone through several forums and pulling out some of my hair...
Let me explain:
I'm talking about the downloading software Utorrent (I know it's not good... but let's say all of this remains for legal purposes... let's admit...) anyway it was working very well before even though the port wasn't right, so there was no green icon saying everything was okay... obviously I had to mess with it, so after fixing that issue, I get a nice message for ALL my downloads --> access denied a few seconds after starting to download...
I've tried several sites (mininova, news torrent, easy torrent, smart torrent...) but it's always the same.
I've tried restoring the default settings with a port randomly chosen by the software, but still the same.
In a last act of despair, I even formatted and after reinstalling, the same problem persists.
If I'm stressing out this much, it's because for me Utorrent is the best p2p software (when it works well...) and its competitors don't appeal to me...

The issue is resolved; it’s simply because the destination folder downloads was on a partition other than C:, and so it couldn’t find C:\download.....
A silly mistake, really!!!

Hi,
It's simple when you have an access denied, normally you have a log (error report) in the log tab on your main uTorrent page.
It tells you something like "unable to open the file 'the name of the file you are downloading' in the folder C:\Documents and settings\Download\.
I had this problem because my documents folder was on a partition other than the main one (C:\) but on another one that I created to store my documents.
So the thing to do was simply to change the destination folder for completed downloads to a valid path.
I hope I helped you; it really bothered me with this story...

Hi everyone, I had the same problem, and I noticed that uTorrent was trying to download to C:\\Downloads instead of C:\Downloads
By fixing that I resolved the issue.

I need a bit of help. When I use BitTorrent, the download starts for a few seconds, then it says "access denied." In the log, I see that the location of the downloaded file is not correct. There are 2 // and I can't change the location. I have the latest version of BitTorrent. All the ports are open.

Once you have set the destination folder to C:\Downloads, cancel all your ongoing torrents, restart µtorrent, and relaunch torrents. Here we go!!!!!!!!

The problem is that the destination folder does not have the correct access rights; Windows blocks writing, so the rights on the destination folder need to be changed to read and write.

Well, I went to "settings" > "folders" in uTorrent
I set it to download the folders to C:\downloads (a folder I created for the occasion)
and then I set "completed, download folders to..." to the folder where I find my downloads.
For now, it seems to be working...

You need to start uTorrent as an administrator or add full control for users on the disk (partition) where you want to save the download.

It's strange for me because the access denied error doesn't occur for all downloads, but for some it shows:

Error Opening "G:\filename

I don't understand where the problem comes from??

My problem is that when I download a file, I'm told access denied and I don't have the issue with \\ or anything else written on this forum.
I've tried a few changes, maybe that's why.

Hello, a simple trick that worked for me: check that your destination file is not read-only...  - right-click on the folder, properties: if read-only is checked, you just need to uncheck it.
