Acronis True Image 10.0 Password

Hello,

I installed Acronis True Image 10.0 and performed a backup of drive C:.
The operation worked well, but when I check this image by clicking on it, I am asked for a password, even though I haven't entered one and nothing is set by default.

I searched in Acronis and on the internet, and I found nothing.

Thank you for any responses.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

GHOST PASSWORD I have the same problem and have not found any logical solution. As has already been said, it is probably a random bug. Lacking logic, I am feeling my way, and here are the valid conclusions for my computer. This problem does not occur when I back up "My Data." For backups of "My Computer," sometimes the bug is present and other times it is not, but only if I want to "Explore the Backup." Which then becomes impossible. As for "Restoration," I believe it is not a problem. I tried the procedure and at no time was I asked for the password. I stopped just before starting the procedure at the moment the window showing the summary of actions opens. (I am going to borrow an old computer to do a complete trial).
There are two places where you can check if there is really password protection.
1) When performing a "Backup" in the window that opens showing the summary of actions just before launching it, it will indicate if there is password protection. If this indication does not appear, we can be sure there is none.
2) By opening the "Backup Log." In the line detailing the backup, we will find or not the same indication.
Last point. How to remove a password that is set for each operation without being requested? Still fumbling, we can do it by clicking in the menu bar on "Tools," then on "Options," in the window that opens,
open "Default Backup" and click on "Backup Protection." The windows for entering the password contain nothing. Leave them blank and click "OK," hey...yes...it's not very technical! But it worked for me. If the windows for entering the password contain dots, it means we are not in the right place.

Hello Tinet,

I applied what you mentioned in your message and I also stumbled a bit but I still wanted to get an opinion.
Thank you for this message.

I do have another question regarding restoration.
I did a clean install: XP, drivers, some software, then made a backup of my computer.
Afterwards, I installed additional software and tested the restoration.

MY question is, when I perform a restoration with Acronis, are the software installed after a backup with Acronis still present?

I would say no but they appear on my end, did I miss something?

Thank you.

I don't know Acronis, I've only used GHOST so far, but if it works the same way,

yes, your programs installed before the creation of the image will be present on your partition after restoring it.

Acronis creates a perfect image of your disk, so even system files and other registry keys are included.

So everything returns after the restoration as if nothing had happened.

Hello,

I have a similar problem: I made a complete backup of the system and data with Acronis True Image 11.
Now, I want to schedule differential backup tasks for data.
But:
When I check everything to create a differential backup from my complete backup, Acronis True Image tells me: "This backup is password protected." So, I enter my usual password, the one I used for my complete backup.
Then, I am asked: "Choose the username and password to use to start the task." In the fields to fill out, it already suggests a username that is apparently mine. So I re-enter my usual password, the one I used for the first backup, the complete one.
But it says to me:
"The login information is incorrect. Are you sure you want to continue with this task?"
I say "no," and I redo everything several times without success, even though I have checked everything carefully.
I even type each of the three passwords (not one more) that I use everywhere, I try several ways. I also try several usernames, several possible combinations. But it's always the same message.
Once again, I am told: "The login information is incorrect. Are you sure you want to continue with this task?" This time, I say "yes."
The task is created, but it is impossible to start it:
"error 1326, unknown username or incorrect password."
I tried to do a complete backup of data again, and it works perfectly.
But my external hard drive is not infinite, and I need to do differential backups... sniff!
Does anyone have any idea? I will try the thing you mentioned about leaving the fields blank, but if you have another idea, feel free to share! Thank you very much in advance.
