Microsoft Word: line break issue Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a bit of a silly problem, but I can't seem to fix it. When I write a text in Microsoft Word 2007 and I want to go to the next line, it adds an extra line...
I tried playing around with the line spacing options, but it doesn't work :( it still adds an extra line!!!!
If someone could help me, thank you very much!

I feel like it's a story about accounting in Microsoft Office (Word) and Open Office: when you retrieve a file that was created in Open Office and work on it in Word, it must pick up the style parameters or something like that and then it skips our famous line.
The only solution I've found for now: retype all the text in a document created in Word (copy-pasting doesn't work, it also copies the style). It's really lame!

You need to change the style called "Normal": In the styles group, open the styles with the down arrow and select Normal, choose Modify... At the bottom, there’s a Format button, select Paragraph, and set the Spacing After to 0. It was like this before version 2007 [ok]

To make this permanent, you need to save the file as a template (filename.dotx or directly normal.dotx)

I have the 2010 version but it seems to me that for you, if I remember correctly, you need to go to:
- format
- paragraph: inside it will display a part for indentation and below a part for spacing
- in the spacing part, there is "before" with a box to choose the centimeters you want. below it says "after" with a box to choose the centimeters you want and there you put 0. and there you go

For both the 2007 and 2010 versions, the trick is the same. I'm redirecting you to a forum that gives you the explanation:

Basically, all you need to do is go to "modify styles", choose among them "word 2003" (no large line spacing, therefore) and confirm. And if you want to set it as the default, return to the "modify styles" menu and click on "set as default".

Actually, I have the same version as you. You just need to go to the Home toolbar that appears, and there are different sections. Go to styles and then select the style where it says no line spacing. Easy once you know how.

Hello,
I noted that this question was resolved, however since I didn't find the exact answer here, but elsewhere, I’m adding it.

In Microsoft Word 2010, to prevent double line spacing when you press "enter":
- Go to the Home tab (at the top).
- Paragraph section
- On the small “icon” Line and paragraph spacing
(you will see the name by hovering your mouse pointer over it).
- Click on Remove space after paragraph

There you go
Why make it simple when you can make it complicated.
Microsoft Word is quite convoluted.
