Hello, this morning when I turned on my Mac, the screen lit up normally but suddenly it zoomed in a lot and became oversized; it moves with the mouse but I no longer have a global view of my screen. I tried restarting it, turning it off for a while... but nothing changes... what should I do???
Thank you for any information you can provide, I really need to work on my computer...

You have a folder called "Applications" where all your applications are located (unless they are installed on another drive). You open this folder, find the "Utilities" folder, open it with a click, and double-click on "Disk Utility." A window will appear with your HD displayed in the left column, which you click to select. A SOS menu will appear, and at the bottom, you click on "Repair Disk Permissions" and let it run.
Come back and tell us.

Good evening,
I assume the problem stemmed from the fact that Martine had enabled Universal Access / Zoom in the System Preferences.
(help intended for the disabled).
Can you confirm, Martine?
Have a nice evening

Hello,
You must have, somehow, or due to a system bug, changed the display configuration.
Apple menu/System Preferences/Displays/Monitor and then reduce the resolution, that should be enough.
Then, repair the permissions: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, select the disk/First Aid/Repair Permissions.

I already tried to reduce the resolution but nothing changes; however, the following (applications...) I have no idea where it is... thanks a lot for your help.
I followed all these instructions to the letter. I restarted my computer to check and it's still the same... it even seems even bigger...
Thank you for the advice and explanations.

What are the specifications of your Mac? (Apple menu/About This Mac/More Info/Hardware gives you all the information about your machine)

It is good form, my dear Martine, when asking for help, to provide the solution to the problem once it is resolved, so that other internet users facing the same issue can benefit from it!! Let's not be selfish ;-)
Have a nice weekend

So it was indeed a Zoom that my dear brother must have activated after coming home a bit too drunk the night before... he must have wanted to turn off the computer but accidentally pressed a key... well, he hasn't admitted it but the suspicions linger on him...
Thank you all
have a good evening

"In wine there is truth," so ................... we are making progress in quality, you will wisely advise your brother on an appropriate oenological reorganization - be careful with your keyboard, red wine stains badly, and as for vomit, it can mess up the keys - have a good end to the bender for your bro. ------------
Hi everyone, I've looked a bit at the solutions you proposed and I have the same problem as Marine, but I have a computer with Windows XP. Does the "application" solution... work too?? And if so, where can I find it?
Hello, first of all, before shouting -
when you write in uppercase on a forum, it means you are shouting. Before shouting, saying hello is always nicer.
Next, you only shout if it is justified, and that is extremely rare.
Furthermore, before posting a message, you read the entire discussion to avoid others repeating the solution already given.
Finally, when asking for an email, it is wise to provide that email address, although on the other hand, giving your email address on a forum is more than risky if you don't want to be bothered later by spammers or others, and another reason not to communicate by email is to benefit everyone from the proposed solutions.
A solution you would have found if you had taken the time to read this entire discussion thread before shouting.
Moreover, this problem has already been mentioned several times elsewhere on this forum.
Best regards

I can't find the "application" folder...
I also have a zoom on my screen; I must have accidentally pressed a key.
When I press F11, the screen gets even bigger...
Thank you.

Have a good day
