M3U to MP3 file conversion

Question

Hello everyone!!

I have M3U files on my PC that I can listen to using Winamp, but I can't burn them to a CD. Since I'm going to change computers, I need to be able to get them out. I would like to convert them to MP3, if possible.

Can you tell me if there are any software programs that can do this? Thank you very much!!!

M3U files cannot contain music.  It is not possible to convert an MP3, Audio CD, WAV, or OGG to M3U format.  M3U is a simple text file that indicates the location of one or more MP3, OGG, WAV files...

M3U and PLS are playlist files, open them with a notepad and you'll find shortcuts, so converting them to MP3 is mission impossible.

The conversion from M3U to MP3 is impossible:  M3U is not a music format.  M3U is just a simple text file that contains the addresses of several MP3 files.  You can open it with Notepad to check.

Indeed, m3u files are just "shortcuts" to streams or multimedia files... However, and as nothing is impossible in computing ;o), it is quite possible to rely on these links to play the desired files while recording them at the same time... the very good VLC player does this very well, for example... this is actually what the new Free service relies on to watch/record television directly on your PC....

Salut, ça m'est arrivé aussi, mais j'ai trouvé la solution. Alors au lieu de cliquer sur le bouton droit de la souris et "enregistrer la cible sous...", tu dois cliquer sur l'icône normalement avec le bouton gauche et en écoutant de la musique sur Windows Media Player, clique tout simplement sur "Fichier" et puis sur "Enregistrer sous..." ta clé MP3 :)

You cannot convert .m3u files to .mp3, but you can open the .m3u file with Notepad; you will find the address where the audio file is located.

after reading: Converting M3U to MP3 is impossible: converting them to MP3 is mission impossible. go to this address and download you cannot convert .m3u files to .mp3  I thought I could add my two cents  why not, quite simply, with winamp: preferences > output > disk writer or chun-yu's mp3 right? too simple?

Hello everyone, it’s very simple  open the file with Notepad  then copy the link e.g.:  http://site name/downloads/walterstallworth/FeelinItInTheAM128.mp3  open VLC  in the file menu click on Stream Assistant  select Transcode save / next  paste the link http://site name/downloads/walterstallworth/FeelinItInTheAM128.mp3 / next  Select audio and check Transcode audio  in codec select mp3 / next  leave RAW as default / next  in select the destination file click on choose  and in file name put the new name with the mp3 extension  you can take the m3u filename and rename the extension to mp3  click on save and finish  there you go, the encoding has started  it's easy, right??
