Hello everyone,
It has been a year since I acquired my Creative Zen Vision M, and until now I haven't had any particular problems.
A few days ago, I had an issue with battery charging; my MP3 wouldn't charge anymore once it was connected, and then my computer didn't recognize it.
But I resolved that issue, and for one day, I could transfer and listen to my music normally.
Until today... Indeed, my MP3 got stuck, so I put a pin in the hole on the side of the creative to restart it.
And that's when the Recovery Mode appeared!! And I don't know what to do since I have these options:
- Clean up
- Format All
- Reload Firmware
- Reboot
I tried 2 of these functions: Reboot and Reload Firmware. Reboot restarts my MP3, but I still have the Recovery Mode screen showing. Then I tried Reload Firmware, and unsuccessfully; it showed "Harddisk Problem"... I don't understand.
I didn't want to do Format All because I know it would delete everything.
And I don't know what Clean up consists of, so I preferred not to touch that.
So, is there anyone who has had the same problem and could help me please?
This is very important to me...
Thank you in advance.

I have a problem, my MP3 is stuck in recovery mode all the time. I formatted my MP3 and it says "docked" when I connect it to the computer.

Exactly the same problem, except I think it's due to a fall.
I did a clean up but it says "scan disk indefinitely".
I'm going to try to find my warranty because I think I have 3 months left. -
I have a recovery mode on my Zen Vision:M 60GB, when I try to reload the firmware it tells me hard disk problem, reboot takes me back to recovery, clean up scans and then returns to recovery but I don't want to try format all...
After a year and a half my warranty is gone so I don't know what to try to recover it... does anyone have a solution??? I feel like it's dead without ever having fallen with molded plastic protection and everything... sniff
Of course, I tried the reset without it doing anything and when it's connected to the PC it just says "docked" as well.... -

I have the same problem with the battery and the fact that it is not recognized by Windows XP.
When resetting, the player displays nothing and the power indicator is blinking.
I don't have the solution yet... -
Same problem after a year and a half of use... I don't know what to do since it's no longer under warranty. Can't update the firmware because it's not recognized by all PCs. If you have a solution, I’m all ears!

Hello, I have the same problem with my Zen Micro; if someone has a solution, please help us, thank you in advance.

I have the same problem and I still have the warranty. I took it in today, but Creative no longer repairs it and no longer produces it. So the seller told me he could give me a voucher of $380 in FNAC gift card... :/
Or otherwise, I could replace the hard drive myself (very easy operation according to him, which allows me to keep the player for a long time)
So I don't know what I'm going to do, I looked for this hard drive at Darty (MK disk) but they don't know what it is. -
Hi everyone
I had my Creative Zen Vision M 30GB for a year and a half as well, and suddenly it froze while playing songs. I pressed the reset, and it started to rebuild the library... and froze during that! Solution found on the Creative website: check for the existence of a new firmware (which is the case:
https://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=213&subCatID=214&prodID=16002&prodName=ZEN%20Vision:M%2030GB&subCatName=ZEN&CatName=Lecteurs+MP3
) reload the firmware in recovery mode (which by the way erases everything and also destroys the firmware) and reinstall the new firmware.. MY PC (Vista SP1) RECOGNIZES THE CREATIVE BUT THE UPDATE SOFTWARE SAYS THE PLAYER IS NOT CONNECTED!! It's upside down!
So here I am like a fool waiting for a response from Creative; I advise those with XP to update the firmware, I hope it works with that OS. Be careful, it will erase everything...
If it's a problem with the hard disk, they advise (creative.com, contact us tab, then support, and just follow the guide ^^) to do "format all" and then restart the player, and transfer all your tracks again...
Good luck to all, and if anyone has a solution for my firmware upgrade recognition issue ;-) -
Here’s how to do it:
1) Go to the Creative website at this page: http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/MP3PlayerRecoveryTool/welcome.asp?
2) Install the program
3) Format the player and restart it
4) Run the program and click on accept
5) The program installs the firmware => Wait. It will display a message saying that it is doing so
And there you go !! -
Same problem with my Creative that is recognized by the computer but not by the firmware update and even under XP. I can't take this Creative and its issues anymore. If someone has a solution and if Melomania, you have solved your problem, let me know :) Thanks.

Hello, I had a similar issue with my Zen V Plus, which was resolved thanks to this driver site. We select our model, download, run it,... AND THAT'S IT!

You're welcome. ;)
See you later. -
You need to update the firmware of the Zen Micro
First, download
http://www.clubic.com/lancer-le-telechargement-5000-1-pilote-zen-micro.html
Second, download<souligne>
</souligne>
https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=23&v_code=9029
Then perform the update -
If you receive the message "The drive is not connected" and the "Update" button is grayed out, under XP this is likely due to the version of Windows Media Player 11.
Creative recommends WMP 10.. because there is a PlayForSure bug on version 11.
I'll dig deeper...
