Hello,
I have a Canon IP 4300, and after replacing the Canon cartridges with generic ones, and after seeing it work correctly, it no longer functions. 5 flashes indicate that the print head is defective.
Is this a false problem, and if not, where can I find print heads?
Thank you for your replies.

Hello
A message keeps appearing: full absorber. How do I reset the counter to zero on the Canon iP 4300? -
I had the error U043, all ink tanks not recognized. I called Canon's customer service, no help, even though they have the solution. All their technicians know the manipulations to do.
After reading several topics about the error U043, there were ideas but no concrete solution.
I unplugged the USB cable, I unplugged the power cable connected to the printer.
I pressed the ON/OFF button. [You need to keep it pressed throughout the manipulations], which means not letting go of the ON/OFF button.
I plugged the power cable back into the printer.
I pressed and released the STOP/RESET button [red triangle] more than 4 times.
I pressed several times on Feed Switch [Paper feed switch], because the ALARM light was still on. Noticing that the ALARM light had turned off, I lifted the printer lid (a manipulation done to change the cartridges).
I closed the lid, the error U043 is no longer displayed on the screen, but 3 words are displayed on the screen with TEST in the middle (I didn’t note the 3 words because I was doing the manipulations without any procedure and without knowing if I would succeed).
I lifted the lid a second time and noticed that all the cartridges were lit, so the result is positive. I closed the lid, a second message appeared under the first message.
I took my finger off the ON/OFF button (Reminder: my finger had been pressed since the beginning of the manipulation).
I think the printer had turned off, if not, it needs to be turned off.
I powered the printer on, the screen displays the correct settings. The manipulation is a success.
In conclusion, I succeeded but I regret not having taken notes. If anyone performs this procedure, they should take notes to send to the website.
Reload your old cartridges while holding the cap with small rubber bands from a racing bike inner tube, and change them before the indicators light up. -
Hi,
From what I'm reading on the forums, it seems that Canon has made it so that generic cartridges don't work on the newer printer models. I would advise you to buy a new set of Canon cartridges to try.
Good luck.

Good evening,
I have a Canon IP4300 printer that I've had for a few months... everything was fine, but for the past two weeks, I can't print!!!
One cartridge is not recognized; when I lift the cover, it is indeed off... I put it back in place, it lights up, I close the cover; and then it starts blinking orange, the same message appears, I repeat the operation...
But I'm going in circles!!! Has this ever happened to you? A defective cartridge (even though it was working perfectly)? And it's not empty!
Anyway, if you have any solutions, I'm all ears ;) otherwise, I'll have to take the printer under my arm and return it to the store... great!
Thank you! Have a good evening! -
Hi,
I have the same issue as you, and I read that we need to find a way to reset the printer, which just thinks you still have empty cartridges... I'm looking into it and I'll keep you updated. -
UP!
I have a printer ip6700D
Same here.
Nothing special is marked on my manual.
It was on the LCD screen that it notified me once about the reset procedure to no longer have the display.
It was fine, but when I changed to another ink, it didn't work at all and I had no choice but to put in a new one. Contrary to what is said on the sites about using a compatible one and changing the chip set, it only worked once out of three times (having had to change 3 cartridges).
The printer tells me that the detection is not happening correctly. I tried to reset it as I did when I was prompted for one cartridge, but it was not possible because the printer did not prompt me for my two other cartridges. -
Hi,
When my first cartridge ran out, an interface allowed me to disable the ink level monitoring for that cartridge. I can't seem to reactivate this interface...
any ideas?
thanks -
Hello,
It’s not just with generic cartridges that there are issues. Since we replaced our cartridges with Canon ones, we are experiencing the same problem as you: the printer does not recognize the cartridges, specifically 2 of them. A window opens every time we try to print informing us that the cartridges are not recognized by the printer.
They have protected their printers so well from generic cartridges that they don't even recognize their own cartridges anymore. (Unless the ones I bought are counterfeit cartridges??)
I’ll keep you updated... maybe talk to you later.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Pixima iP 4200. I believe that even original cartridges can have defects. Indeed, when I replaced the problematic cartridge, everything went back to normal.
See you later

Hello
The solution I found works (for now) on my IP4300.
I refill the Canon cartridge with ink (syringe method), I make sure not to touch the electronic chip.
I put the cartridge back in place, still the message that the cartridge needs to be changed.
When the message appears that the cartridge absolutely needs to be changed (even though it's full!!!), do not turn off the printer, but press the paper feed and Warning buttons (button above the SD card reader).
And then the LP no longer takes the error message into account and prints (the empty cartridge symbol will still be present.)
Good Luck

Hi. You can reset the counter by holding down the resume button. A message displays "cartridge replacement..." wait for the operation to finish before releasing the button. Printing will resume. I did it after refilling the black cartridge with a syringe, and it works. Phew!

Hello everyone,
Canon Pixma MP510 Printer
Problem: error U043, cartridge not recognized
I tried to replace the Canon magenta cartridge for the 3rd time with a generic one. Result: U043 message
I've tried everything (from the simple "5 seconds on the red triangle" to the kind of manipulation where you "press 327 times on 6 buttons at once while doing a handstand" (lol): nothing worked...
A little call to the seller. It seems that the chips are programmed for 3 uses and then that’s it! Truth or lie??? Anyway, I put a Canon magenta back in (the real deal!) and it started working like new again!
I guess I'll see what happens during the next "3rd replacement"... -
Good evening!!
I have a Canon MP530 and I also had issues with ink recognition...
The screen always displayed "Check ink Y (yellow) C (cyan)", strangely the other colors didn't seem to be a problem...
Then it showed the error U43, but for me it's not because of compatible cartridges, it's because I refilled the original cartridges of the printer.
I tried to follow the steps described above by Anonymous, even though we don't have the same printer and my steps weren't exactly the same as theirs, it worked
I'll explain what I did, maybe this will help someone:
1- I removed the power cable and the USB cable connecting the PC to the printer
2- I pressed the "on/off" button and kept it pressed throughout the process (step 1 to 6)
3- I plugged the power cable back in without reconnecting the USB cable
4- I alternately pressed about ten times on:
a- the STOP/RESET button [triangle in red circle next to the "color print" button]
b- and on Feed Switch [Paper feed switch]
5- The alert light went off and I opened the cover (as if to change the cartridges) but nothing happened, I pulled the carriage manually but no light was on, so I pushed it back (I know it seems a bit primitive but in the heat of the moment...)
6- During all this time, the printer screen remained blank, no message appeared unlike Anonymous's printer
7- I released the ON/OFF button and started printing a document and it worked well, until when, I don't know but the main thing is that it worked
There you go...
