Hello,
we have a big issue installing a Canon SELPHY CP500 photo printer. It works perfectly; we have already installed it on other PCs and even connected it directly to a camera. However, on our PC, it installs correctly, it is detected, but refuses to print any photos or even a test page!
Do you have any idea what might be blocking the data transfer to the printer after installation? Could any software installed on the machine be blocking it (like ZoneAlarm, Ad-aware, etc.)?
Thank you in advance for your help

Hello,
If I understand correctly, there is no real solution to the problem (for me it's with a Canon CP 720!). It's quite annoying... To work around the issue, I suppose it's possible to save the edited images on a card and then put the card in the printer. For that, I guess I need to buy a card reader...
Could you let me know if this idea seems reasonable to you? I've wasted a lot of time trying to get my printer to work from my computer and I think I'm going to give up unless Canon provides me with a real solution!
It's quite crazy, this problem: connecting a printer to a computer didn't seem difficult to me... Even fifteen years ago it was doable without any issues. Anyway...
Thanks anyway for your advice...
Best regards.
Christo

Hello, same here, I left a message a few days ago because after installing Vista on my Asus laptop and reinstalling the drivers for the Selphy 710, the paper comes out but doesn’t go back in, even though everything is fine on Windows XP. I contacted Canon and they don’t have a solution after half an hour on the phone. All the updates from Asus for Vista have been done, and I installed the printer drivers from the Canon website... I don’t know what to do anymore. Thanks to anyone who can help me...
Hello,
I encountered the same issues you mentioned with Vista and a CP710.
Here’s how I managed to resolve it:
- 1 I first executed the cp710x32mux.exe file downloaded from the Canon website
- 2 I opened this cp710x32mux.exe with 7zip (an excellent free software). Indeed, cp710x32mux.exe is a self-extracting archive that unfortunately launches a program meant to automate the installation, but which, in my case and apparently in yours, does nothing useful.
So you need to extract the files contained in the archive, for example to c:\
If you extract the files to the root of C, you will get the following directory structure c:\CP710\WIN_X32\
This is where the .inf file containing the printer configuration information is located;
- 3 The final step is to open the Device Manager (right-click, properties on the computer icon). You need to select the CP710 driver and choose to change the driver by stating you want to do it manually. The dialog box contains a browse button allowing you to tell Windows that the driver is located in c:\CP710\WIN_X32\
It works well here. I can print correctly with my CP710.
It's a bit confusing in the Device Manager. To see the driver, the printer must be powered on and, of course, connected, and you also need to choose view, show hidden drivers. To request to change the driver, you need to right-click on the driver displayed by the manager.
I think the procedure will also work without any issues if, instead of performing step 1, you connect the CP710 directly to the computer and let Windows search for the driver installation. It should inform you that it can’t find it and suggest you insert the CD provided with the hardware. Then, the system will believe it has installed the driver, and you will be able to see it by its name in the Device Manager.
There you go, I hope I'm not too confusing
(for 7zip, go to www.framasoft.net)
Best regards,
Gérard

Hello,
I'm not very good with computers and I have the same problem as you but with a cp720: everything seems to be working correctly but my printer won't print.
How do I download the file cp710x32mux.exe?
Should I also download the file cp710x32mux.exe even though I have a cp720?
Thank you for your help...

Good evening
I just bought a SELPHY CP 760, a friend has a SELPHY CP 500 (not compatible with Vista) and his new computer is running Vista. Is it possible to use my installation CD on his computer to use his CP 500?
I contacted Canon, but it's radio silence!!!
Thanks in advance for your response
Best regards
Alan

I am currently experiencing the same problem under the same conditions and with the same positive experience nonetheless. But now I am on Windows Vista and I wonder if there might be a cause-and-effect link... Happy to know if there is a solution...
Finally a solution!!!
I had been trying in vain for several days to get my Selphi CP400 printer working under VISTA without ever succeeding with the driver downloaded from the Canon website... I recommend this solution to anyone who is having trouble with their SELPHI since switching to VISTA...
Since I can't thank Canon for not doing their job perfectly, I sincerely thank Gérard.

Hello, I'm having the same problem with my Canon Selphy CP 730. I can't print (file in queue) even though it works when I connect this printer to another PC.
Hello,
I'm having the same problem with a Selphy CP720: Everything works fine from my camera or a memory card, but not from the PC. I've followed all the advice I could find (restarting the spooler in XP, selecting direct printing on the printer, disabling bidirectional mode, etc.), but nothing works.
Some people who had this issue solved it by reinstalling XP, which I really don't want to do...

Me too, if someone can help me. I have an HP laptop with Vista and a CP 720. Installation ok but images are in the queue and not printing. Please.
super! I installed the 32-bit Vista driver and now the printer prepares the sheet but never actually prints it (cp510). I cancel, and it spits the sheet out!! waste! help us please!
I have the same problem with my Canon Selphy 730. Apparently, it's a driver issue between Win Vista and the device. Unfortunately, the drivers provided on Canon's official website don't work!!! They do recognize the printer but can't print at all. Frustrating!
Canon offers drivers for Vista in 32 and 64 bits (check your OS). Both are quite mediocre.
Vista is really not portable, which doesn't surprise me at all. I also have problems with my Sony Ericsson W810i mobile (natel)...

exactly the same problem for me since I got this new PC with Vista. I have a Selphy CP510, which works perfectly from the camera. grrrrrrr.

Thank you very much, Gérard!
Not very skilled in computers, my son helped me and we followed your procedure. The printer works from the PC and I was able to print my photos, our African friends will be happy, they will finally receive the images!
Thank you again for your help.
Best regards, Bernard from Lausanne.
