Hello, I want to format my flash drive; I right-click on the flash drive / format / quick format / ok /; but there is a message that appears "windows was unable to complete the formatting"

Hello Try this (unless it's your manipulation)  Press Windows+R then DISKMGMT.MSC  or right-click on This PC -> Manage -> Computer Management -> Disk Management  Good luck See you!

I use this method; and I format the flash drive, but a message appears saying "Windows was unable to complete the format"; I repeat this formatting several times until it succeeds: but when I open the flash drive, another message appears saying "the flash drive is not formatted."

Hello,
I can't format my HDD under XP SP3:
Error message ""Windows was unable to complete the format"
This is for the Disk (D:) 200 GB NTFS Healthy (System)

The other two are clean, namely (C:) 30 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot)
and BACKUP 6 GB FAT32 Healthy (Unknown partition)

Otherwise, in "Computer Management,"
the Format option is not clickable (greyed out) for any of the partitions.

Windows could not complete the formatting

I did all that with XP, but it's not working

"Start + Control Panel + Administrative Tools + Computer Management + Disk Management"

And in the list, you can see all your hard drives and DVD drives.

You right-click on your partition
or the partitions of your USB drive

and select "Delete Partition"

Then, of course, you right-click on it again
you create your partition
and in the same way, you format it to FAT32.

Well for me, nothing is resolved, it's not working at all.
When I'm in computer management after right-clicking the mouse, the format and partition options are grayed out and prevent any access. I'm on XP.

Hello,

During a file transfer, the process crashed and the format of my TDK 8 GB micro SD card became RAW.

I couldn't format it from Windows.

I inserted my micro SD into my camera and formatted it from there.

Everything is back to normal!! It is again in FAT 32 with the correct capacity!

Hello everyone, I have an unusable 8GB micro SDHC, I can’t format it (went through "manage" on the computer, used CMD "format :G", tried applications, and finally the smartphone) but nothing works!!!
What else can I do, besides changing it a second time?

same problem the chkdsk could not start because it is in RAW format

I followed this procedure which worked,

it consists of overwriting the MBR sector from another healthy USB drive using HDHacker

compmgmt.msc opened
for detecting the drive, it would take sometimes up to 10 minutes, so be patient ... otherwise from another machine, it came up immediately.

then format as NTFS for large volume
done with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool

if the option does not appear,

Go to the Policies tab.
Check Optimize for performance.
Uncheck the bottom box
Confirm with OK
Go back to My Computer.
Right-click on the USB drive then choose Format...
The NTFS option became available, in addition to FAT.

Hello everyone
I found the solution:
download SDFormatter
normal installation
once the installation is complete, launch the software, it detects your SD cards, choose the card you want to format and then click on Format and hop you recover your SD card

Windows was unable to complete the formatting.
