Hello,
I just bought a PC and I have something called "eSobi". Before activating it, I would like to know what it is and what it is used for. Thank you.

Hello hello Lilou27,
Your last post about the RSS feed generator was in March, I hope you found a solution, but I'm writing anyway, in case someone else has the same question as you! (I tried to reply a few days ago, but my message didn't get posted, not sure why!!)
Do you know what an RSS feed is? It is a link between a website and another web page or software, "the most common use is to receive a list of new articles published on a blog or news site, with a summary for each article. To receive them, the user must subscribe to the feed using an aggregator, which allows them to quickly check the latest updates without having to visit the site." (quote from Wikipedia: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(format) )
What is called an "RSS generator" (or "RSS aggregator") is the software that is used to subscribe to these RSS feeds, collect the new information sent by different RSS links (or "feeds") from the Internet, and allows the user to read, classify, archive, save, etc.
I believe one of the most common uses of RSS feeds is to disseminate news information, or new posts on a blog. You can, for example, subscribe your RSS generator software to a website of a newspaper like Le Monde or Le Figaro, and as soon as something new is posted, the RSS generator software is notified, and you can immediately check the news (or sometimes just a simple summary).
There are doubtless several RSS generators and readers on the market, but the only one I’m somewhat familiar with is called Esobi: the software discussed in this thread. I've seen a few web applications that allowed reading RSS feeds, but I prefer using Esobi because I read a lot of news from various sources and countries, and the software interface also includes an advanced search function which has quite satisfied me so far (I read a lot about the war in Afghanistan, and there’s total blackout on the American side, so you need to dig...). Overall, I think Esobi is pretty good because it allows for more consultation and faster research than if you were just using Firefox, for example. You can take a look, and you’ll see it’s a very handy software..
As for the beautiful shield with colors on it, you won’t be done rubbing against it.. has anyone answered you on that subject?

eSobi combines several functions:
- customized management of RSS feeds,
- advanced information search on the Internet,
- classification of information, accessible in a personal library
Extremely practical for subscribing to RSS feeds tailored to your needs and for efficiently searching for information (Google, Yahoo, and MSN results at a glance without duplicates). I also use it a lot to organize web pages or articles that I have saved online.
So it's neither a firewall nor some weird thing, and it's super handy!

Hello, I just read all your articles, I don't know what an RSS feed generator is, could someone please explain?
I just bought a PC, I have this on the desktop and I don’t know what it’s for!
Also, on the icon there is a shield with four colors on it (I think it's Windows). So I don’t know what to do! Could someone please help me?
Thanks in advance to everyone.
Kisses

Je voudrais savoir comment changer son adresse IP en toute sécurité. Est-ce que ça endommage la connexion si on la change ? Merci d'avance pour les réponses.
Nanou54, have you solved your "shield" problem?
You can check this link, it might enlighten you: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-4919825-alerte-de-securite-windows
I would also appreciate if our fellow internet users could share their recent findings regarding RSS readers and podcasts... I'm always interested!! ;)

Salut à tous, c'est la première fois que je réponds à quelqu'un et je ne sais pas trop quoi dire. Je voulais savoir ce que c'est, ce esobi. Moi aussi, merci à tous.
