Freelancers and Devs facing AI in 2026
Hello everyone,
I’m thinking about going freelance to offer full game creation services with Godot, starting at €100.
The problem is that I’m hesitating a lot because of AI. I have the impression that more and more people say, "why pay a developer, might as well ask ChatGPT or Claude how to do it myself." So I’m afraid it will strongly reduce the number of potential clients, or even make my offer obsolete before I’ve even started, and above all, I fear I’m stepping into a saturated market without realizing it.
So I have several questions, and I’d love to hear your feedback if you’re freelancers (in game development or elsewhere):
- Do you really feel an AI impact on your activity, or is it more of a fear than a concrete reality?
- How do you differentiate yourself from what a client could "hack together" with an AI?
- Have some of you integrated AI into your workflow rather than viewing it as a competitor?
- Overall, does the freelance market for custom game creation still have value in your view, or is it a risky bet in 2026?
Thanks in advance for your feedback, even a simple personal opinion would help me see more clearly before I jump in!
